Arsenal join Liverpool, Chelsea in race for Juventus star enjoying frightening return to form

Arsenal are now part of the battle to sign a Juventus player who has turned his fortunes around in recent months, though competition for his signature will come from Liverpool and Chelsea.

Despite Arsenal’s fantastic start to the campaign, they could still do with adding to their squad in the new year. This will help to ensure their great form continues, while also helping them to challenge Manchester City in future seasons.

And Mikel Arteta has a couple of positions in mind for reinforcements. One is winger – he wants a new wide man to move to the Emirates to provide competition and backup for Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

Arteta is also keen to improve his midfield ranks. There are several options for potential signings, including Palmeiras’ Danilo, Leicester ace Youri Tielemans and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic of Lazio.

Fabrizio Romano thinks Milinkovic-Savic would be a ‘fantastic’ capture for any English team, including Arsenal. However, the Serbian will only be available in the summer as Lazio do not want to sell him this winter.

Another option for the Gunners could come from Juventus. According to Football Italia, who cite Calciomercato, midfielder Adrien Rabiot is becoming a real target for Premier League clubs.

Arsenal are the latest team to set their sights on the Frenchman. Chelsea and Tottenham would also like to sign him, while Liverpool could engineer a player-plus-cash deal to get Rabiot to Anfield.

The 27-year-old appears to be coming to the end of his Juve spell. His contract with the Turin outfit expires at the end of the season.

Juve prepared for midfielder to leave

Juve cannot afford to meet his wage demands for a contract extension. As such, they are preparing for him to leave on a free transfer next summer.

While Arsenal are not one of the richest teams in Europe, they can match what Rabiot wants to be paid. This means there is the potential for a switch to the Emirates.

Juve have previously been unsure whether to extend Rabiot’s contract due to his disappointing form. But the star has since turned things around, putting in some brilliant performances for Juve this term.

He has got among the goals by registering five strikes and two assists in 16 club matches. Plus, Rabiot got on the scoresheet in France’s World Cup opener on Tuesday, heading home Les Blues’ first goal as they beat Australia 4-1.

Rabiot has established himself as a deadly goalscoring midfielder, which explains why so much interest in his signature is coming from the Prem.

The report names which English outfit is most likely to win the race for Rabiot. While their links with him have been the most subdued so far, Tottenham are dark horses.

This is because of their director of football, Fabio Paratici. He has close ties with those at Juve following his spell working for the Italian giants. This means Juve are most likely to negotiate with him and Spurs, rather than Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Spurs are also considering a controversial move for a former Arsenal man, according to reports.
