Arsenal consider January move for ‘concrete’ target to give Arteta winter boost

Arsenal are considering making a move for one of their targets as they are ‘quite concrete’ on their admiration for him, as per a report.

The Gunners showed in the summer transfer window that they are intent on recruiting youthfully. All six of their permanent additions were aged 23 or younger. And they appear to be sticking with this method going forward.

One man they’ve identified who fits this bill is Club Brugge winger Noa Lang. He’s 22 years old, so another potential star of the future like Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

And because he suits their ideology so well, they don’t want to hang around. Voetbal24 report they are thinking about a move when the transfer window re-opens.

They’re not alone in this thinking, though. AC Milan are also ‘quite concrete’ on the Dutch international.

This is said to be an issue for his Belgian owners. They are happy to let their starlet go for a reasonable fee next summer.

However, losing him in January is not ideal. As such, the Bruges outfit are placing a €40m price tag on Lang’s head.

They only signed him on a four-year deal in the summer so are understandably reluctant to let him go just mere months later.

A previous report earlier this week outlined the five-way battle for Lang. Leeds, West Ham and Borussia Monchengladbach also feature.

The Hammers are a new name on the block in the battle. Their interest comes amid reports that Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky is closing on a 27 per cent stake in the club.

Lang has started the season well, but not at quite the same standard as he played last campaign.

He has three goals and five assists to his name in the Belgian League after 12 games played.

Arteta addresses Barcelona rumours

Meanwhile, Arteta has shut down rumours of him being Ronald Koeman’s successor at Barcelona.

When asked about his thoughts on the vacant role, he replied: “That I’m extremely happy at Arsenal and I feel privileged to be here. My only focus is here.”

Arteta then added: “Again, there has been a lot going on in the last few years. And obviously with how Covid has affected things.

“Obviously you have to overcome a situation like the departure of Messi. He has been the key player for many many years and all that takes time and we’ll see. I just hope that everything works out well.”
