Arsenal plot ambitious £65m Man City double raid; Guardiola slaps Arteta with big valuations in response

Arsenal linked Manchester City duo Julian Alvarez and Kyle Walker
Arsenal are reportedly considering an ambitious double swoop for Manchester City stars Julian Alvarez and Kyle Walker this summer.
The Gunners are expected to be busy with transfers for the duration of the window as Mikel Arteta looks to build on an impressive 2022/23 season.
Arsenal raided Man City for Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer, who proved to be an overwhelming success at the Emirates. Both players played a crucial role as they came close to winning the title.
Now, it seems Arteta would like to repeat that trick ahead of next season, but it definitely will not be easy.
Arsenal have already brought in Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz and are very, very close to securing the signature of West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
Ajax’s Jurrien Timber will follow Rice through the door. But, Arsenal’s transfer business is far from done.
If they want to compete for the title again, they will need depth in key areas, especially because they will be competing in the Champions League next season.
With that in mind, proven winners like Alvarez and Walker are exactly the kind of players Arsenal need.
Arsenal ‘weighing up’ Man City raid
According to reports from Spain (cited by Sports Mole), Arsenal are ‘weighing up’ whether to launch a double swoop for Alvarez and Walker.
However, it is claimed that landing the duo will be very difficult. Alvarez only signed a new contract with the Cityzens in March, which runs until 2028.
He put in some impressive performances last season. So far, the World Cup winner has made 49 appearances in all competitions for Man City, scoring 17 goals in the process.
As a result, Pep Guardiola would reportedly only consider a bid of €80m (£68.4m) for Alvarez, while Arsenal are only willing to pay €60m (£51.3m).
Walker, on the other hand, has been linked with a departure from the Etihad for some time. Bayern Munich were considered the favourites to sign him. But, Man City have since responded by offering him a new contract.
The England international’s new deal remains unsigned, however. Which means he could still leave Man City this summer.
Arsenal have reportedly ‘approached Man City’ with an offer of €16m (£13.7m). But, this is still likely to be rejected by Guardiola, who doesn’t want to sell him to the Gunners.
With that in mind, it seems Arteta would have to pay over the odds to land the Man City duo.
