Arsenal reign victorious in Declan Rice saga after Romano makes ‘done deal’ claim

Arsenal have reportedly won the battle for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice after seeing their most recent offer ‘accepted.’

The Gunners received strong competition from Manchester City for the England international. But, it now seems Mikel Arteta has got his top target.

Barring any late twists, Rice will become Arsenal’s new record signing and the Emirates faithful will no doubt be buzzing to see how he performs for them next season.

Arsenal recently saw a £90m package turned down by the Hammers, which comprised of an initial £75m payment and £15m in addons.

Then, Man City entered the race by submitting their own package worth £90m, this time structured as £80m plus £10m in add-ons. This was also quickly turned down.

Subsequently, the Cityzens pulled out of the race. So, it was just a case of whether Arsenal could come to an agreement with West Ham over a transfer fee, with personal terms already agreed with Rice.

Now, it seems their third offer of £100m plus £5m in add-ons has finally been accepted by the Hammers. But, they do have one final hurdle to clear in terms of deal structure.

Romano gives huge Rice to Arsenal update

This was confirmed by reputed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano. On Twitter, he wrote: “West Ham have just communicated to Arsenal that they’re accepting £100m plus £5m add-ons fee for Declan Rice.”

“The two clubs remain in talks over deal structure & payment terms — as West Ham want £100m to be paid within 18 months.

“Final discussions and then… done deal.

“Documents are being prepared to be checked in the next 24 hours between the two clubs. Personal terms agreed weeks ago.

“Final green light on payment terms is expected soon then… here we go!”

So, Rice looks set to leave West Ham after captaining them to their first trophy since 1980, winning the Europa Conference League in June.

Overall, the midfielder has made 245 appearances for the Hammers, scoring 15 goals and making 13 assists.

Rice has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League in recent seasons.

He has also spoke publicly about his desire to win trophies and compete at the very highest level – something he will no doubt be keen to achieve with Arsenal.

Now, with his switch to the Emirates all-but completed, an official announcement is expected in the very near future.
