Bundesliga expert confirms Arsenal hopes of signing deadly duo from Germany; Arteta pressure leaves club with ‘work to do’

A German football expert has confirmed Arsenal are in the mix to sign two players from the Bundesliga this summer, and they could add plenty of goals to Mikel Arteta’s side.

Arsenal’s transfer funds looks set to be boosted by them competing in the Champions League next season. They are battling Manchester City for the Premier League title and this means they are pretty much guaranteed to finish in the top four.

The Gunners are also one of the favourites to win the Europa League, which would also see them secure a place in Europe’s elite club competition for next season. The Gunners picked up a 2-2 draw in the first leg of their last 16 tie with Sporting Lisbon and must beat the Portuguese outfit at the Emirates next week to book their spot in the last eight.

Being in the Champions League will not only increase the funds at Arteta’s disposal, it will also boost their chances of signing top players who want to challenge for the biggest trophies.

And Christian Falk, who extensively covers Bayern Munich and the German Bundesliga for Bild, has provided his take on Arsenal potentially landing two stars from Germany.

During an interview with CaughtOffside, Falk revealed how he travelled to Bayer Leverkusen on Friday to discuss the club’s transfer plans. He went on to explain how Arsenal are hoping to capture winger Moussa Diaby, leaving Leverkusen chief Simon Rolfes with ‘a lot of work to do’.

“I’ve today (Friday) been in Leverkusen to meet Rudi Voller and Florian Wirtz, who is a target of many clubs in Europe, but has decided to stay in Leverkusen minimum til 2024 for the European Championship,” the journalist said.

“When I entered the lift in Leverkusen’s Club Center, Simon Rolfes, Leverkusen’s sporting director, was already in. He told me that he saw the many rumours about Premier League interest in six players of his, several of which I wrote about in my last column.

Arsenal want Leverkusen and Dortmund stars

“He joked that he now has a lot of work to do because of that. One player in this column was Moussa Diaby.

“Arsenal still have an interest in Diaby. The Bayer Leverkusen star’s agents are in contact with the club.

“However, it’s worth noting that the Gunners are also interested in Dortmund’s Julian Brandt. The club has yet to make a final decision on that front.”

Diaby and Brandt would add plenty of threat to the Arsenal team. Diaby has registered 11 goals and six assists in 32 Leverkusen games this term.

The winger has previously been targeted by Arsenal and Newcastle, and it seems Arteta is still looking into capturing him.

Brandt, meanwhile, is a central attacking midfielder who could provide competition for the likes of Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira.

He is a renowned creator who would probably enjoy an experience in the Premier League. Brandt has only played in his native Germany so far in his career.

However, it will not be simple for Arsenal to complete this double Bundesliga swoop. Diaby is rated highly by Leverkusen and they have previously put his price tag at an eye-watering £70m.

Brandt is a target for Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham. And the playmaker is reportedly open to a Spurs move, which means Arsenal have some catching up to do if they wish to sign him.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have been joined by Manchester United and Liverpool in scouting an exciting Ligue 1 teenager, according to reports.
