Camavinga agent reveals truth behind shock Arsenal, Chelsea moves for eye-catching Real Madrid coup

A shock move from either Arsenal or Chelsea for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has been decisively clarified by his agent, as well as Fabrizio Romano.

The 20-year-old France international joined Real Madrid just 18 months ago. The defensive midfielder was signed with one eye on the future given the respective ages of Carlo Ancelotti’s primary options at the time.

Indeed, his preferred midfield trio at that stage was Casemiro flanked by Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

Casemiro has since moved to Manchester United and is in the running for signing of the season. Modric and Kroos, meanwhile, are deep into their 30s.

Camavinga and fellow Frenchman Aurelien Tchouamni therefore represent part the next generation of Real’s midfield. However, with Kroos and Modric still going strong, Camavinga is struggling for minutes in the here and now.

Indeed, his 16 LaLiga appearances this season have totalled just 547 minutes. The vast bulk of his outings have obviously come from the bench.

That sparked recent speculation Camavinga could be loaned out this month to one of England’s elite.

Arsenal, Chelsea business not finished yet

Indeed, the Evening Standard claimed table-toppers Arsenal were plotting a loan approach. Not to be outdone, reports elsewhere, such as from 90min, put Chelsea in the frame.

Both clubs have shown they’re more than willing to make moves this month. Chelsea are world football’s biggest spenders once again with their net outlay around the £200m mark this month.

They’re not finished yet, with central midfield believed to be their next priority. Indeed, David Ornstein of the Athletic reported a £55m bid had been tabled and later rejected by Brighton for Moises Caicedo.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have landed Leandro Trossard for £27m and are close to wrapping up a move for Polish centre-half, Jakub Kiwior.

Camavinga door closes

However, according to Fabrizio Romano and Camavinga’s agent, the Real Madrid man will not be moving to London this month.

Romano cited quotes from Camavinga’s agent, Joshua Barnett, that read: “There’s no truth [to Arsenal, Chelsea loan links].

“Of course every club in the world would want him, but he’s very happy in Real Madrid and Real Madrid are very happy with Camavinga”.

Closing the door entirely, Romano concluded his tweet by simply stating “Camavinga stays”.
