Edu exploring mesmerising striker raid that will hurt Man Utd and take Arsenal to breathtaking new heights

Manchester United’s summer plans to sign a striker in a £100m-plus deal appear under threat after reports in Italy suggested Arsenal were planning a rival swoop of their own.
The Red Devils are progressing well under summer-appointment Erik ten Hag, having embarked on a run of just one defeat in the last 21 games. That excellent run of form has seen United climb up to fourth in the Premier League table.
They face a trip to Crystal Palace on Wednesday before then clashing with top of the table Arsenal on Sunday. Wins in both matches would see United move within three points of the Gunners.
New striker signing Wout Weghorst, who has joined on loan from Burnley, via Besiktas, for the rest of the season, could make his debut. His chances of a securing a permanent move to Old Trafford have been revealed by our transfer insider Graeme Bailey.
And while funds are reportedly tight at Old Trafford this month, Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk suggests they could launch a move for Dusan Vlahovic before the window shuts.
Down the line, though, the landscape could be about to very seriously change at Old Trafford. And amid reports that Britain’s second wealthiest man, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is planning to buy the club, talks has been been rekindled about a move for Kylian Mbappe.
While any deal for Mbappe would seem fanciful, the club are seemingly making plans to recruit a big-name striker.
Reports are indicating that a fresh move for Harry Kane could be launched. However, reports in Italy earlier this week suggested Ten Hag’s top target was in fact, Victor Osimhen.
And while Napoli are keen to keep the Nigerian, they would seemingly be willing to sell if their asking price was met.
Arsenal ready to pip Man Utd to Victor Osimhen
Indeed, per Monday’s Euro Paper Talk, that price wcould fetch as much as £133m. And while that seems a mammoth price, the Nigerian’s formidable record of 79 goals in 170 games proves he knows his way to goal.
However, the same source – Italian paper Il Mattino – now claims that Arsenal are also ready to enter the race to sign Osimhen.
Their technical director Edu is reportedly an enormous fan of the player. And he seemingly believes his signing could catapult Arsenal on to the next level.
The Gunners looked nailed on to secure a return to the Champions League next season after a six-year absence.
And with additional funds at his disposal, the Gunners could look to add quality over quantity this summer.
And Osimhen is one such name that Edu is seemingly looking at. To that end, the report claims they will look to match any United offer for the player.
The article also suggests Newcastle are keen to land the Napoli frontman. However, despite also hoping to secure Champions League qualification, they would be seen as outsiders to sign Osimhen.
However, Il Mattino claims a bidding war for the player’s services could commence. And that will allow Gli Azzurri to get close to their asking price.
As a result, the 24-year-old may well become summer 2023’s big mover, with his fee potentially topping Jude Bellingham.
