Outlandish Erling Haaland to Arsenal claim made as Arteta links to Atletico star also grow
Arsenal are being tipped to launch an incredible summer approach to sign Erling Haaland – with one observer claiming he is the “missing ingredient” for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The Gunners endured a highly-frustrating January that saw a number of players, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Calum Chambers, all depart. However, efforts to strengthen their attack – with Dusan Vlahovic their main target – ultimately proved unsuccessful.
The powerful Serbian ultimately went on to join Juventus. However a row over the move, including accusations of him using Arsenal, has since broken out.
For the Gunners, though, the quest to strengthen their strikeforce continues.
They are once again being linked with a move for Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak. The Swede, though, comes with an enormous £63.4m (€75m) exit clause. There are also concerns about his form with Isak having just seven goals to his name this season.
Instead, former Gunners frontman Kevin Campbell reckons Arsenal should instead look to Haaland.
The goal-hungry Norwegian is likely to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer with his release clause coming into play.
While that is also set at £63.4m, his enormous wage demands make the deal prohibitive to any potential suitor.
That said, Campbell remains convinced that Arsenal should consider a move.
Erling Haaland can fill Arsenal hole
“If you can get him, you get him, 100 per cent,” Campbell told the Highbury Squad. “Haaland is one of the best in the world. If you can do it, then you get the best players in the building that you can.
“If you had to break the bank to get Haaland and that hindered you in filling the squad. Do you do it?
Haaland to Man City makes perfect sense
Erling Haaland has been linked with Manchester City.
“That’s what we really lack, isn’t it? We lack that striker who is going to bang 20-25 goals in, so if you can get that, then you get it. [Even] if it’s going to detriment (the squad).”
Haaland has an incredible record at Dortmund, scoring 80 goals and weighing in with 21 assists in just 79 games for the club.
Journalist pushing Alvaro Morata to Arsenal
Another striker who Arsenal were strongly linked with in January was former Chelsea man Alvaro Morata.
On loan at Juventus from Atletico Madrid, he found himself the odd man out following Vlahovic’s arrival.
However, after talks with Massimiliano Allegri, he decided to stay with the Biaconeri.
They, however, look unlikely to take up a permanent option to sign him, leaving his future up in the air.
As such, Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini claims a summer move to Arsenal looks possible.
Furthermore, it’s now emerging that Atletico are seeking £29m (€35m) for Morata – a price within Arsenal’s budget.
Quoted by AreaNapoli, he said: “Juventus are not willing to redeem him for €35m and therefore in all likelihood he will return to Atletico Madrid.
“A new future in the Premier League is possible for him. Arsenal are strongly interested.”
