Euro Paper Talk: Arsenal re-enter talks for midfielder, but face winger wait; desperate Chelsea in twin hijack talk

Arthur Melo Juventus May 2022

Arsenal are back in the hunt for Arthur Melo, while they will have to be patient over a winger target and Chelsea are looking to gazump PSG and Manchester United over two defensive targets, all in Euro Paper Talk.

ARSENAL IN MELO TALKS; GAKPO WAIT

Edu’s transfer talks with Arthur Melo are understood to be back on.

Arsenal almost landed the Juventus midfielder in January, but a move never materialised. Now with dialogue said to be flowing once more hope of a deal has been raised.

TuttoJuve report that both clubs want a deal to happen. And the Brazilian could arrive at The Emirates on an initial loan deal, with the switch becoming permanent next summer via an obligation to buy.

Such a deal structure would seem acceptable for both clubs. Juve get the guarantee of a fee through a permanent deal for a player who has failed to live up to the billing since arriving from Barcelona.

And Arsenal get the player without having to pay for him until next summer.

Arthur has also been applauding the efforts of new signing Gabriel Jesus.

Jesus posted an image of himself celebrating on Instagram after scoring against Chelsea and Arthur replied with an applause emoji.

Meanwhile, Arsenal remain in the hunt for PSV winger Cody Gakpo.

But Edu and Co will have to be patient because Voetbal International claim that PSV have their own set of demands, should they let their star man leave.

Next week, they face Monaco in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier before the return leg takes place in Eindhoven on August 9.

Club chiefs are therefore adamant Gakpo remains to play in both games in order to help them into Europe’s top competition.

That would mean that Arsenal will have to wait until next month to secure a deal for the 23-year-old.
