Arsenal are closing on a deal to sign a World Cup attacker for an incredibly low fee, with a stylish Brazilian also on their radar, Erik ten Hag is chasing another raid on Real Madrid for Man Utd, while Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Leeds fancy a Torino midfielder.
MEMPHIS DEPAY READY FOR BARGAIN MOVE TO ARSENAL
Arsenal are pushing hard to secure the signing of Memphis Depay in January with a bargain deal seemingly on the cards.
The Dutch attacker has fallen down the pecking order at the Nou Camp and is being freed up for a January exit. Signing on a free transfer from Lyon in summer 2021, he scored 13 times in 38 appearances last season.
However, the renewal of Ousmane Dembele, together with the capture of Raphinha from Leeds, have seen Memphis’ game-time depleted.
And the 28-year-old star has made just three appearances in all competitions this season.
And with his deal due to expire in the summer, Barcelona are open to letting him leave in the winter window.
According to Sport, that fee will be for a lowly £4.3m (€5m) – a fee which Arsenal technical director Edus is more than happy to reach.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta wants another goalscoring winger added to his mix. And a deal for Memphis, who struggled badly at Manchester United earlier in his career, looks the perfect option.
The Netherlands attacker can also operate in a central striker’s role too, meaning he provides additional cover for Gabriel Jesus.
Per reports, Edu will offer Depay a two-and-a-half-year deal, keeping him at Emirates until summer 2025.
Arsenal also chasing deal for Porto winger Pepe
As well as Memphis, the Gunners are also reportedly eyeing an ambitious raid for classy Porto winger Pepe.
The 25-year-old, whose full name is Eduardo Gabriel Aquino Cossa, made the move from Gremio to the Estadio Dragao in summer 2021.
And this season he has truly caught the eye, playing a part in six goals in 13 Primeira Liga appearances.
The winger has become an increasingly influential figure at the Portuguese giants. And Record claims Gunners scouts have been watching the player on several occasions this season.
Pepe has a £64.9m (€75m) exit clause in his deal, though Arsenal would try and negotiate for less were they to make a move.
The Gunners could turn to the former Brazil U23 international should a move for Mykhaylo Mudryk prove too costly.
Arsenal, though, reportedly face competition from Chelsea for the FC Porto star.
