Euro Paper Talk: Edu ready to break Arsenal transfer policy with shock deal for striker who boasts stellar stats; Liverpool target Rennes forward

Edu is ready to break Arsenal’s transfer policy by making a move for a red-hot Porto striker in the January transfer window, while Liverpool are keen on landing a Rennes striker at the turn of the year – both in the latest Euro Paper Talk.
EDU PLOTS JANUARY MOVE FOR IRAN FORWARD
Arsenal have reportedly become the latest club to join the chase for highly-rated Porto forward Mehdi Taremi.
A Bola claims that the Gunners are looking at the 30-year-old frontman with a view to a January transfer window bid.
The Iran international has scored seven goals and adding six assists in just 11 games so far this season.
He is expected to play a major role for Iran at the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. However, the Gunners fear that a successful tournament for the attacker could spark more interest in his signature.
English clubs were looking at Taremi last summer, only for Porto coach Sergio Conceicao to shut that door.
However, A Bola adds that Taremi’s representatives felt it would be best for their client to change clubs after the World Cup. And when discussing his potential suitors, Arsenal were mentioned.
According to the newspaper, Mikel Arteta’s side are ‘committed’ to try and push through a deal in the new year. Porto, meanwhile, are willing to negotiate.
The Portuguese giants sold Luis Diaz to Liverpool at the start of this year. And the report adds that Porto are willing to strike a similar deal this January.
Taremi signing goes against normal Arsenal plan
There is also a small mention of Chelsea in the report but nothing more than that.
To that end, it appears that Arsenal are very much leading the chase to complete a deal for the player.
It would, however, go against technical director Edu’s ethos of only signing players younger than 30.
But Taremi would give the Gunners a proven back-up for Gabriel Jesus, should injury hit the Brazilian at any point.
