Exit rumours grow as new suitors added to list for star Arsenal ‘willing to sell’

Nicolas Pepe Arsenal

A report in Italy claims Arsenal are open to selling Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in January, with Juventus now in the race for his signature.

The 32-year-old has been at the Emirates since January 2018 , with the Gunners paying Borussia Dortmund around £56m. He has scored 92 goals from 163 appearances in all competitions, bagging 31 in 2018-2019 and 29 the following season. However, his star has waned since then and the Gabon international found the net just 15 times last term.

He has also had difficulties off the pitch. The striker has recently been stripped of the captaincy following a breach of discipline.

Mikel Arteta appears to have had enough and has omitted him from match day squads. Rumours have been doing the rounds that the north Londoners will look to jettison the African next month.

A number of clubs have been linked, with Barcelona thought to be keen. The Catalans have reportedly proposed an exchange, with Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele offered for Aubameyang.

But now Gazzetta Dello Sport, via Sport Witness, are reporting that Juve have entered the picture. They state that the Old Lady are ‘chasing a centre forward’ next month and are currently playing a ‘three card game’ to find one.

Aubameyang is one target, while Manchester United’s Anthony Martial and Sassuolo forward Gianluca Scamacca complete the trio.

Juventus already have Aubameyang doubts

Despite the links to Turin, it appears as though Juve may be having second thoughts about the former Saint-Etienne hitman.

The report adds that the Serie A giants are not sure that he fits the ‘football curriculum’ at the club. That is because they need a player who is more than just a ‘penalty area striker’.

Scamacca is their number one target this winter. The 22-year-old is at the other end of the spectrum in terms of his career and would be a long-term investment.

Aubameyang is seen as more of a quick fix but problems exist over trying to sign the Sassuolo man. That’s because I Neroverdi may prove difficult to deal with as they do not want to lose their star man.

Mikel Arteta Arsenal

Therefore attention has turned back to the Arsenal forward. Gazzetta Dello Sport are suggesting that Arteta would be willing to let him leave on loan.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano stated earlier this week that the Gunners are actively seeking a new striker to replace Aubameyang in January.
