Arsenal given major boost as Serie A midfield target favours Emirates switch over Newcastle move

Fabian Ruiz, Victor Osimhen celebrate a Napoli goal during Serie A game at Bologna

Arsenal have been given a boost in their pursuit of Fabian Ruiz, as the star would reportedly prefer a move there, were he to move to the Premier League.

Ruiz has been a target for a number of sides in the Premier League of late. Indeed, Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle United have all registered interest.

It is obvious why the teams are keen on Ruiz. The Spaniard has contributed to 35 goals in 157 games during his time at Napoli, and has been a crucial member of the side for much of his time there.

However, Ruiz’s contract is up next summer, and it has been reported that he does not want to renew.

As such, the interested sides will no doubt attempt to do their all to tempt the midfielder in. And Arsenal appear to be in the box seat in terms of the interested English sides, per a recent report.

Corriere dello Sport, per Sport Witness, claims that Ruiz prefers a move to Spain, but ‘if anything, Arsenal’.

Ruiz’s desire to return to Spain, where he is from, makes sense. Indeed, the report suggests there may be interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

However, Arsenal being the only club outside of Spain he is willing to join is a big boost for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Napoli could play a big role in Ruiz’s next destination, too. Indeed, Barcelona, have had monetary problems of late.

If Napoli want to ensure they receive a fee for Ruiz, they could attempt to sell this summer, and that would surely give Arsenal the edge over Barca.

Arsenal could target Ruiz and Bellingham

Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, Borussia Dortmund, March 2022.

In other news, former Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell feels that Jude Bellingham would be a good fit for the club.

“Quality player. Someone who’s got legs, who fits in with the youth element, who’s got big capacity to grow as well,” he said.

“He’s of that standard that he’s already a full England international. That really fits our bill and ticks the box.”

Indeed, Bellingham would be a massive addition to the Arsenal squad. His 10 England caps at just 18 years of age show a lot of promise and maturity.

However, the Gunners would have to do battle with Manchester United and Liverpool if they wanted to land the star.
