Arsenal delight in store as star man admits what he ‘wants’ amid contract talks

Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli has offered an update on what he wants for the future amid talk over his contract at the club.
Martinelli has grown into one of Arsenal’s finest assets over the past few seasons. Despite being just 21 years of age, he has already racked up over 100 first-team appearances.
After a few years of developing as a youngster, he has really hit his stride. Indeed, last season, the Brazilian played 29 Premier League games.
That showed the faith Mikel Arteta has begun to have in him, given he made just 28 combined in the two seasons prior.
This term, he has been one of the Gunners’ most dependable talents. Martinelli has not missed any of the club’s 17 games in all competitions.
He has started 15 of those 17 games, too. Furthermore, he has been a very useful asset in front of goal, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
He is joint with attacking teammates Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka as Arsenal’s top goalscorer.
He clearly has a good relationship with both of those stars, too. Jesus referred to both Martinelli and Saka as “machines” recently, as well as detailing how lucky he is to play alongside them.
Martinelli offers Arsenal delight
Martinelli’s contract is up at the end of 2024, though Arsenal have the option to extend that to 2026. To this point, there has been no movement on a new deal for the Brazilian.
However, he has offered an update on his situation which will delight Arsenal fans.
“I am very happy at Arsenal. I’ve said it many times,” he said, per the Evening Standard.
“This is my club. I love to be here, I love the city, I love the club.
“I love everything about Arsenal so I want to stay. I just need to get a pen. I want to score, score in the next game and help my team do well.”
It seems there should be no fretting over the future of one of the club’s brightest stars.
Arsenal can remain at these heights
Arsenal currently find themselves top of the Premier League table, two points better off than last season’s title winners Manchester City.
The Gunners are showing no signs of slowing down. With players like Martinelli in the side, they could be legitimate challengers at the top end for years to come.
Indeed, the star is only 21, and is in the form of his life. However, it is clear that he can continue to progress, and Arsenal seems to be the right environment for that.
The club will certainly be in a good position if they keep players like Martinelli around long-term.
