Arsenal legend makes huge prediction over Liverpool clash as Klopp clearly has aces up his sleeve

Arsenal legend Paul Merson believes if Arsenal beat Liverpool on Sunday then they will win the Premier League title, although he is expecting a real test for the Gunners.

The Premier League leaders head to Anfield this weekend looking to maintain their eight-point lead over Manchester City, who head to bottom side Southampton 24 hours earlier.

Mikel Arteta‘s men have played a game more than their main title rivals though and probably have the tougher run-in, including games against the Reds, Newcastle, Chelsea, Brighton and a huge trip to The Etihad on April 26.

Pep Guardiola’s men all are also well-versed in winning tight title battles, as they’ve shown in clashes with Liverpool in recent years.

And while the Gunners are firm favourites to lift their first title since 2004, Merson thinks the game on Merseyside could end up being the deciding factor.

He told Sportskeeda: “This game is a worry for Arsenal. Liverpool did not play [Mohamed] Salah, [Virgil] Van Dijk, [Andy] Robertson, or [Trent] Alexander-Arnold against Chelsea.

“Jurgen Klopp could be saving these players for Arsenal. I’d be shocked if they don’t play this game. It seems like the Arsenal game at home is more important to Jurgen Klopp, and that would worry me as an Arsenal fan.”

Anfield win could be Arsenal title-clincher

However, Merson genuinely thinks that a victory at Anfield could seal the Premier League title for his old club.

He added: “If Arsenal win this game, I think they win the Premier League. They still have a game against an excellent Newcastle side, but Arsenal won’t have to beat them if they can get the better of Liverpool.

“If they win this game, they would have to have a major meltdown to lose the title race.

“Jurgen Klopp wants his Liverpool side to play a certain way, and his team doesn’t have the legs to pull it off at the moment. It wasn’t too long ago that Liverpool were smashing Manchester United at home.

“This is going to be a difficult game for Arsenal, and a victory here would seal the Premier League title for me.”
