Arsenal transfers: Mikel Arteta told which ‘incredible’ player could unlock key to PL glory in mutually beneficial move

Marquinhos and Neymar of PSG

Julio Baptista feels the addition of Paris Saint-German ace Neymar will ‘complete’ Arsenal and sees no reason why they should not try to sign him.

The Gunners are now back among the Premier League elite after a superb 2022-2023. Having challenged for the title for 30 games they fell away at the business end of the campaign. However, the north Londoners were the only club to realistically oppose City’s dominance.

It would have been easy to sit back and admire their recent achievements. But manager Mikel Arteta has been busy recruiting in the off-season and landed some notable targets.

Declan Rice’s £105m capture from West Ham is the standout transfer while Kai Havertz arrived form Chelsea.

And Jurrien Timber moved to the Emirates from Ajax to help shore up the defence.

Arsenal are clearly a club moving in the right direction as they look to challenge Pep Guardiola’s side for the title once again.

Whether or not they have the ammunition to do that only time will tell.

Neymar would be an incredible acquisition. The Brazil international has scored 82 goals from 112 Ligue 1 outings with the Parisians while he was also prolific at Barcelona.

But former Arsenal star Julio Baptista feels the South American has never felt loved at Parc des Princes.

“I think Neymar is comfortable at PSG, but maybe the best move for him is to create a new atmosphere at a new club, he told Gambling Zone, via GOAL.

“Maybe a club that supports him and gives him all the confidence that he needs.

“He doesn’t have that at PSG. The fans don’t like him a lot and maybe it is time to move on and try something different.”

Neymar final piece of Arsenal puzzle

Arsenal are expected to be major players in the upcoming Premier League title race.

The two Manchester clubs, plus a resurgent Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino and talented Newcastle side should also be in the running.

It is open to debate as to whether Neymar would sign for Mikel Arteta’s side.

But Baptista is adamant they should try as it would take them to the level required to land silverware.

“Why not? Arsenal is one of the best clubs in Europe. We know that the last eight or so years, Arsenal have not produced their best or been as competitive,” he added.

“But now, with Arteta, Arsenal have something different. They have started to construct something powerful. Why not? Maybe this could be the key.

“In Brazil we say that you have the house, you have everything, and you just need the key to open it. Maybe Neymar is the key to open and complete everything at Arsenal. He is an incredible player.”

The Brazilian would not come cheap and it is unlikely that Arsenal would have the funds after their summer outlay.

But Baptista believes the former Santos forward would feel at home in England’s top division.

“I think the league would help him,” he continued. “If he is thinking about moving, then I think the best league for him would be the English league.”
