Haaland saga set to impact Arsenal, Tottenham move for red-hot striker

Erling Haaland celebrates Borussia Dortmund win

Borussia Dortmund have reportedly entered the race to sign Arsenal and Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic as they seek a replacement for Erling Haaland.

Vlahovic, 21, is on the radar of a number of clubs due to an outstanding goal return for Fiorentina. The Serbia intentional has bagged eight from 12 Serie A appearances this term and has 10 in all competitions. Since signing for I Viola in June 2017, he has found the net 39 times from 97 outings and many clubs have taken note.

The north London duo are keen. Arsenal made contact with the striker’s representatives earlier this month, according to reports.

However, their advances were ignored in what CaughtOffside suggested was an ’embarrassing’ turn of events. Whether that turns out to be true only time will tell as Mikel Arteta’s side are now on the up.

They are a much more attractive proposition than earlier in the campaign when things were going badly. There is no European football at the Emirates this season but the Spaniard is working to ensure that is not the case in 2022-2023.

He has already invested heavily in new players and may revisit the idea of trying to sign Vlahovic. Spurs are also on the case and it was claimed on Monday that they had ‘won the race’ to sign the forward.

That is despite the fact Fiorentina have offered him fresh terms to try and keep him at Stadio Artemio Franchi. The saga looks set to run and run but Dortmund are now trying to muscle in on the action.

Clubs lining up for Vlahovic

The German outfit are currently second in the Bundesliga standings, just four points behind Bayern Munich. They are once again relying heavily on Norway sensation Haaland.

Erling Haaland 'Premier League bound' as Real Madrid pull out of the race

Erling Haaland looks set to be Premier League bound as Real Madrid pull out of the race for the Norwegian, with more news on Raheem Sterling and Edinson Cavani.

The 21-year-old has nine Bundesliga goals in only six appearances in 2021-2022. He has been tipped to move to one of the European powerhouses next year.

And, with that in mind, BVB are planning for the future. Calciomercato are reporting that they have offered Fiorentina £30million plus Donyell Malen in exchange for Vlahovic.

Malen enjoyed a breakout season in 2020-2021. The Netherlands international scored 27 times from 45 outings, earning him a move to Westfalenstadion.

But the 22-year-old striker has yet to settle in Germany and has drawn a blank from 11 league games. He may rediscover his goalscoring touch.

Nikola Milenkovic Fiorentina

But on current form, it is difficult to see Fiorentina accepting him as part of a deal for their star man. Juventus are another club with ideas on Vlahovic.

Other clubs might also become part of the equation but Arsenal and Tottenham will hope the lure of the Premier League gives them the edge.
