Arsenal ‘unlikely to block’ transfer for regular starter as emergence of new suitor prompts £50m plan
Real Madrid are ready to accelerate their plans for the transfer of Kieran Tierney, an update claims, while the potential response from Arsenal has also come to light.
Tierney has recently been established as a target for Real Madrid. They are considering the addition of a left-back given that Marcelo is approaching the end of his time with the club. Ferland Mendy is a strong current option, but he could be paired with another player.
In that regard, they have their eyes on Arsenal left-back Tierney. They originally went to scout Bukayo Saka, but although he impresses them too, his clubmate caught their attention.
Now, the Sunday Post are reporting that Real Madrid could quickly convert their interest in Tierney into a bid.
Their headline makes it clear that they are “preparing” an offer of £50m for the Scotland international’s services. That would allow Arsenal to double their initial investment in Tierney, whom they signed from Celtic in 2019.
Even though he is a regular starter, it seems Arsenal would not begrudge Tierney the opportunity to represent Real. The report claims they would be “unlikely to block” a move to one of Europe’s elite, as long as the price is right.
It is up to them to set those demands for a player whose contract with them is due to run until 2026.
Fortunately in that regard, interest in Tierney is growing. With that in mind, they should be able to drive up their asking price for Tierney, even if they would really rather keep him.
Barcelona enter Tierney transfer battle
The Sunday Post add that Barcelona have now joined the race for Tierney. Like their El Clasico rivals, they too are looking for an evolution in the left-back position.
They remain reliant on Jordi Alba, but know that won’t last forever. At the age of 24, Tierney would fit within the ideal bracket for a successor.
Kieran Tierney wanted by La Liga giants Real Madrid

Losing out to Barcelona in any transfer battle would be a blow for Real Madrid. Therefore, Los Blancos are keen to not open the bidding too low in case they miss out.
It means Arsenal may end up with an offer they would need to give serious thought to.
However, with the return of Champions League football looming at the Emirates Stadium, it would not be an ideal moment for Arsenal to sell Tierney. Instead, it is important for them to keep their best players at this moment in time.
But money talks and it appears the two biggest clubs in La Liga, after struggling financially in recent years, are ready once more to test their resolve.
