Lautaro Martinez agent comes back with fresh update as Arsenal monitor Inter ace

Inter star Lautaro Martinez

The agent of Inter Milan centre-forward Lautaro Martinez, Alejandro Camano, has issued a fresh update on his client’s future amid rumours of a possible Arsenal move.

Martinez has taken on the mantle of Inter talisman since Romelu Lukaku left for Chelsea last summer. While the Belgian has struggled back in the Premier League, Martinez is thriving.

The Argentina international is on 21 goals from 45 matches so far this term. He scored in Inter’s most recent game, helping them to a 2-1 away victory over Udinese.

Martinez is enjoying playing alongside Lukaku’s replacement, Edin Dzeko. The latter is in good form too, having bagged 17 goals in all competitions.

Martinez and Dzeko will need to be at their best if the Nerazzurri are to catch rivals Milan and win the Serie A title.

Milan have a two-point lead on Inter with just three games to go, making it a nail-biting end to the campaign.

This could be Martinez’s last season in Italy as reports suggest he is a transfer target for both Arsenal and Tottenham.

Recently it has been the Gunners leading the transfer pursuit. This is potentially down to the fact they need a striker more than Spurs do, as Antonio Conte already has Harry Kane.

Lautaro Martinez wanted in England and Spain

Atletico Madrid are keeping tabs on Martinez’s situation as well, just to make things that bit more intriguing.

But the three interested parties could be left frustrated after the latest comments from Martinez’s representative.

During an appearance on Uruguayan radio station Radio Colonia (via Goal), Camano said: “We are not depending on a transfer. He is at Inter, he is happy, the city is wonderful.

“Sometimes the press publishes things about a transfer but Lautaro is thinking about Inter, giving the people of Inter joy, becoming champions and working for the World Cup.”

Camano’s stance makes sense as Martinez is playing some of the best football of his career right now.

It would be a risk for the 24-year-old to leave and try out the Premier League, where it could end up going wrong for him.

His main focus will be on getting Inter back to the status of Italian champions, and rightly so.

Martinez’s form should help him play an important role for Argentina at the Qatar World Cup.

On the tournament, Camano added: “Lautaro is amazed to play with the Argentine national team. They are all behind Messi, we believe that this is Messi’s World Cup.

“If Lautaro can score all the possible goals to bring that joy to the country, he will do everything possible.”
