Mikel Arteta ready to splash the cash on Argentina striker struggling for goals in 2022

Arsenal have joined the growing list of Premier League clubs looking to sign Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

The Gunners are hunting for a striker to sign up this summer after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was allowed to leave last month. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are also out of contract with the club. And while there is a possibility of Lacazette staying on, 22-year-0ld Nketiah looks destined to move on.

“There is a chance [Lacazette signs a new deal], but we have decisions to make on three or four players in regards to the summer,” said boss Mikel Arteta.

“Starting those conversations right now, I don’t think is the right way. We have spoken to all the players, what to expect, they freedom that they have because the contracts allow them to make any decisions, and with our position there.

“That’s what we are going to do. At the end of the season, we will sit down and decide what’s the best for all the parties.”

But Arsenal are scouting strikers nevertheless and Martinez has emerged on their radar.

According to a claim from Inter Live, Tottenham chief Fabio Paratici is keen on the striker. And Calciomercato have reported “there is interest of Liverpool” in the 24-year-old.

While, Fabrizio Romano has stated the player is on the radar of Manchester United

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE channel on YouTube, Romano said: “They have many options. They will decide together with the new manager. This is an important point. This is for the midfielder, this is for the striker – they have to decide together with a new manager because it depends what kind of striker you want to get.

He has scored 11 in 23 league games this season and the report states he “does not lose’ his suitors”.
