Real Madrid man ‘packing his bags’ with Arsenal and Everton vying to secure summer deal

Arsenal and Everton are reportedly working to complete a deal for Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic, amid claims he is ‘packing his bags’.
Jovic enjoyed a fantastic season with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018-19, managing 27 goals in 48 matches. His impressive form helped Frankfurt to finish fourth in the Bundesliga and reach the Europa League semi-finals.
Jovic found the net in both legs against Chelsea, but the German side were ultimately knocked out on penalties – and the Blues went on to win the tournament.
At the end of the season, Real Madrid paid Frankfurt around £52.4million to sign the Serbian goalscorer. That saw Frankfurt earn a profit of over £30m.
However, things have not gone well for 24-year-old Jovic since then. He found the net just twice in his debut campaign for Los Blancos.
The attacker soon fell down the pecking order and spent last term back on loan with Frankfurt. He could not replicate his previous Bundesliga form though, scoring four times in 18 outings.
Jovic is back in Spain but is firmly out of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans. Despite his recent struggles, both Arsenal and Everton believe they can get the best out of him.
Luka Jovic deal being planned
According to The Sun, who cite Spanish outlet Marca, the two English teams are already working on deals to land Jovic.
Arsenal need a new number nine following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s transfer to Barcelona. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah may also leave this summer, and Jovic could be a cheap solution as Real want to sell.
Everton, meanwhile, were put in the frame for his signature on transfer deadline day. A late move did not come to fruition, but is far more likely this summer.
In addition, Jovic is apparently ‘packing his bags’ as he prepares to end his torrid spell at the Bernabeu.
It will not be straightforward for Arsenal or Everton to secure a deal, though. Multiple German clubs are hoping to sign Jovic, setting up a potential bidding war.
Arsenal back in for Juventus midfielder
Meanwhile, Arsenal are seemingly ready to battle Newcastle United for the signing of Arthur Melo as a report claims the Gunners want to go back in for the Juventus man.
According to a report on Monday, Newcastle are keen to add the player to their ranks.
They could partner him with January arrival Bruno Guimaraes in the centre of the park.
But it seems competition will arise from Arsenal, as Mikel Arteta has told Gunners chiefs to return for Arthur.
BBC Sport, who cite Italian outlet Calciomercato, state Arsenal will make another move for him once the transfer window reopens.
The original source claims the north London outfit are ‘ready to try again’, although it does not reveal the size of a potential offer.
