Arsenal move into pole position for signing of ‘fed up’ star desperate to leave Real Madrid

Arsenal are reportedly engineering themselves to the front of the queue for Luka Jovic amid claims the striker has been cleared to leave Real Madrid.
The Gunners are in the market for at least one new striker this summer as they prepare for a big squad overhaul. With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang departing for Barcelona, both Eddie Nketiah and, most likely, Alexandre Lacazette are also due to leave on free transfers.
As such, work is very much underway behind the scenes to bring in attacking reinforcements over the summer.
Arsenal have, as a result, been linked with a number of big-name stars. Alexander Isak, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Victor Osimhen have all been touted as potential targets.
More recently, Benfica hot-shot Darwin Nunez has emerged as a possible option too.
However, deals for the quartet will not come cheap and fees of at least £60m will be needed. Indeed, in the case of Nunez, Benfica’s president – aware of the growing clamour for his star – is now putting a crazy fee on his head.
As a result, it’s little wonder that Arsenal are exploring alternative options – and it seems Jovic is a strong contender.
The 24-year-old striker has slipped way down the pecking order at Real Madrid and his exit seems a certainty.
He has made just two starts in all competitions this season, scoring just one goal.
Hugely out of favour under Carlo Ancelotti, Los Blancos have let it be known that the striker is free to leave.
Striker to leave in cut-price move
Indeed, reports last week claimed Real are seeking just £25.1m for his services – less than half the £52.4m they paid Frankfurt in 2019.
That fee has, understandably, aroused Arsenal’s interest, with reports already strongly linking them with a swoop.
Now, according to reports in Spain, Jovic is now nearing ‘his final months in a Real Madrid shirt’.
Claiming the striker is ‘fed up’ and ‘wants to leave as soon as possible’, a parting of ways seems inevitable.

Luka Jovic to leave Real Madrid this summer
Luka Jovic will leave Real Madrid this summer with Arsenal one club interested
And the report claims a move to the Premier League looks the most feasible option for the Serbian striker.
Claiming interest from West Ham and Tottenham, they state it is Arsenal who are most interested in ‘taking over his services’ this summer.
Furthermore, they state Real will do all they can to facilitate his move to the Gunners.
Luka Jovic a calculated risk
Indeed, a change of scenary will likely do Luka Jovic the power of good. He has stalled badly at Real Madrid and looks a long way short of the player who notched an impressive 27 goals in 48 games during the 2018/19 season.
However, were Arsenal to get him back to anything like that kind of form, his signing would be seen as something of a bargain.
As far as Real Madrid are concerned, he too is one player they will gladly usher out the exit door. Earning an estimated £83,000 a week, he has managed just three goals in 49 appearances at the Bernabeu.
The LaLiga title hopefuls are ready to move on a number of fringe stars this summer. Indeed, Ancelotti and president Florentino Perez are seeking at least one big signing to freshen up their squad.
Isco, Eden Hazard, Lucas Vazquez and Marco Asensio aee just four other players likely to depart this summer.
Real, for their part, remain in the hunt to sign Kylian Mbappe. The forward becomes a free agent this summer with his PSG deal expiring. And Real could seemingly finance his enormous wage demands by sacrificing all five stars.
