Odegaard reveals role in potential Haaland transfer, as Pedri issues Barca plea to striker

Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland of Norway

The transfer rumours surrounding Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland are hotting up and both Martin Odegaard and Pedri have now spoken about the striker.

Haaland’s campaign has been disrupted by injuries, although he has still found the net 23 times in as many games. That includes Bundesliga braces against the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen and SC Freiburg.

Haaland reportedly has a £63million release clause which becomes active in the summer. This has led to plenty of links with Europe’s biggest teams, including Real Madrid, Manchester United and Barcelona.

Dortmund are eager to tie the goalscorer down to a new contract. An announcement regarding his future is expected in the next few weeks.

21-year-old Haaland is currently on international duty with Norway. He is set to play alongside Odegaard and Sheffield United’s Sander Berge in a friendly against Slovakia on Friday evening.

At the pre-match press conference, Norway skipper Odegaard was asked about Haaland’s future. The former Real Madrid man revealed conversations about Los Blancos, whom Haaland could play for next season.

Odegaard ‘good friends’ with Erling Haaland

“We are good friends so we talk about lots of things, like when I was [at Real Madrid],” Odegaard said (via Goal).

“So, yeah, we talked about [Real Madrid], but it’s not anything special.”

Real’s rivals Barca are also in for Haaland, setting up a potential tug of war between the Spanish teams this summer.

Barca starlet Pedri, currently on international duty with Spain, has also been speaking about Haaland.

The playmaker said: “He has spectacular qualities, I think that everything he touches goes in. I hope he can come because I’ve always said that I want the best at Barca.”

One potential suitor yet to receive a mention is Manchester City. According to Spanish source AS, Pep Guardiola’s side have put an eye-watering contract offer to Haaland.

Haaland deal will cost Man City £300m with wages and fees

Haaland deal will cost Man City £300m with wages and fees

Erling Haaland will cost Manchester City €300m if they want to sign him from Borussia Dortmund this summer with Mino Raiola taking a £37m cut.

They are willing to pay him £500,000 per week, but the star has rejected the terms. He is seemingly waiting for Real to come in with a rival contract offer.

While Haaland’s release clause sits at a respectable £63m, the overall cost of his transfer could reach £300m. That sum includes his potential five-year deal as well as Mino Raiola’s massive agent fees.
