Mikel Arteta wasting little time as Arsenal have ‘important bridge’ to French defender available at knockdown price

Sacha Boey Galatasaray 2023 TEAMtalk1

Arsenal are thought to be closing in on the signature of Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey with officials already making the trip to London to work on the deal.

The Gunners will finish a creditable second in the Premier League this season after battling with Manchester City. It seemed as though the north Londoners had what it takes to dethrone the Citizens but ran out of steam at the business end of affairs. A run of just two victories from their past eight top-flight games has confirmed Pep Guardiola’s charges as champions once again.

However, a second-place finish is a vast improvement on 2021-2022, when they ended up fifth to miss out on Champions League football.

The great and good of the European game will be seen at the Emirates next term. And it is obvious that Arsenal need to improve their squad if they are to challenge on two fronts.

The capital outfit have been linked with a number of players, with Boey among them. Various media outlets have suggested that the 22-year-old could be on their radar.

Earlier this month, it was reported by Aksam that there had been contact between the relevant parties.

And on May 16, Fotomac took it a stage further by stating that an official bid from the Premier League club was imminent.

There is still one league game to go for Arteta’s men, with Arsenal hosting Wolves on Sunday to end 2022-2023.

But it seems as though things are moving quickly regarding a possible transfer for the former France Under-20 star.

Boey won’t break the Arsenal bank

Boey was on the books at French club Rennes between 2019 and 2021 having spent five years in the club’s youth team.

However, he failed to make much of an impression and was loaned to Dijon for 2020-2021.

The right-back impressed, with 21 starts from 24 Ligue 1 appearances. That prompted Gala to make a move and he enjoyed 13 outings during his first season in Turkey.

The talented youngster has started 29 times this term, scoring once and providing four assists.

He has caught the eye of Arsenal scouts and may be heading to England.

Takvim are reporting that Galatasaray president Erden Timur has already travelled to London to initiate proceedings.

And they add that Arsenal selling Lucas Torreira to the Istanbul giants last summer has ‘helped establish an important bridge’.

The Sup Lig club are said to value their player at around the €25m mark. The same report claims the exit ‘door will be opened’ should a bid of that amount be tabled.

But they add that the Turkish top-flight table-toppers are also ‘open to bargaining’ over the full-back.

There are bound to be plenty of rumours about the top clubs in the off-season.

Arsenal will be involved and they certainly have the spending power to get a deal for Boey over the line.

He is a player with plenty of potential and would fit into the Arsenal mould of buying young stars and helping them develop.
