Arsenal are readying their next approach for Leeds United winger Raphinha, with further talks scheduled next week, according to a report.
There could be an increasing Brazilian theme at the Emirates Stadium next season. Arsenal are hoping to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City and could also add Raphinha to their attack.
Recently, they submitted an offer to Leeds for the latter. However, it fell short of the West Yorkshire side’s valuation.
Undeterred, Arsenal are ready to step up their attempts to sign the winger, according to The Athletic. In fact, the coming week will be a crucial one for their hopes of signing him.
Respected reporters David Ornstein and Phil Hay write for the website that Arsenal have booked in talks with Raphinha’s representatives. As for negotiations with Leeds, they are willing to up their offer to come closer to the asking price.
Arsenal believe not only that Raphinha is open to joining them, but also that they are the favourites to sign him. Despite competition from Chelsea and Tottenham, each London rival has a different priority.
Therefore, Arsenal are in a strong position to sign Raphinha. Other outlets have indicated that Leeds – who are also selling Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City, a move the champions will fund by selling Jesus – are holding out for around £65m.
It would be an expensive purchase for Arsenal, especially for a player who only has two years left on his contract. But Raphinha has earned plenty of admirers during his two seasons in the Premier League so far.
In total, he has scored 17 goals and added 11 assists from 66 Leeds appearances across all competitions. Last season, he scored 11 Premier League goals from 35 outings.
Raphinha could be part of big week for Arsenal
Given that reports have indicated Arsenal may sign Jesus within the next 10 days, things are escalating on their transfer front.

They lost attackers like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in recent months. By adding Jesus and Raphinha, they would be replenishing the ranks.
Jesus can give them a focal point centrally, while Raphinha will be a strong option to work with out wide.
If both could arrive within a short timeframe, it would be yet another boost for Arsenal as they prepare to embark on their pre-season training.
