Arsenal are interested in a shock loan move for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this month, according to reports.

Mikel Arteta is looking to add quality reinforcements to his squad as the Gunners aim to lift their first league title since 2004.

The 20-year-old has struggled for consistent minutes at the Bernabeu this season, despite being one of the most exciting young players in Europe at the moment.

Arsenal have already signed Brighton attacker Leandro Trossard this January, while they have also agreed on a deal for Spezia defender Jakub Kiwior.

Improving the midfield is also one of Arteta’s priorities, with the Spaniard eyeing a summer move for West Ham and England star Declan Rice.

But for now, according to the Evening Standard, Arsenal are interested in signing Camavinga on loan to bolster their squad for the remainder of the current campaign.

The North London club currently sit at the top of the Premier League table after winning 15 of their 18 opening matches.

As a result, Arsenal are five points clear of second-placed Manchester City, with a game in hand, so this is an incredible opportunity that they can’t afford to miss.

With that in mind, the current window is of huge importance for Arteta and if he could get a deal for Camavinga over the line, his added quality could potentially be the difference between glory and failure.

Arteta eyes Camavinga loan to bolster Arsenal title charge

Despite struggling for consistent game time under Carlo Ancelotti this season, there is no doubt that Camavinga is already a top player and has the potential to become one of the world’s best.

Since joining Real Madrid at the beginning of the 2021/22 campaign, the Frenchman has made 66 appearances for his club, scoring twice and assisting three times.

Camavinga has already tasted success, too, helping his team to win a LaLiga title, a UEFA Super Cup, a Spanish Super Cup and most significantly, the Champions League, all in his debut season.

With that in mind, the youngster could help bring a winning mentality to the Arsenal dressing room, which will be key as we enter into the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.

He is also versatile, with the ability to play as a central or defensive midfielder, or even as a left-back as he did in the World Cup for France on a couple of occasions. So, the Frenchman could provide cover in multiple positions areas for Arteta.

As mentioned, Camavinga has struggled for consistent minutes under Ancelotti this season.

So far, he has played 16 times in LaLiga, but the vast majority of these appearances have been coming off the bench, making it difficult for him to make a real impact.

It’s so far unclear whether Madrid would agree to let him leave on loan, but if the youngster is not going to play regular football at the Bernabeu this season, a temporary switch to Arsenal would be an opportunity for him to get experience playing at the highest level.

Arsenal have yet to propose an official offer for Camavinga, but this is definitely one to keep an eye on as the current window comes to a close.
