Price tag set as Arsenal look to beat competition to midfield target after ‘closely monitoring’ performances

Journalist Jorge Nicola has revealed that Arsenal could land Danilo for £21.5million, though offers from other clubs may come in.
Arsenal’s form has been something to behold this season. Indeed, in the Premier League, the Gunners have won 12 out of their 14 games.
Mikel Arteta’s side sit top of the table, five points clear of second-placed Manchester City.
Arteta has clearly got his side playing very good football. He wants his side to play a certain way, and after taking a little while to adjust, the results are coming.
That the squad has gelled together well is clear. That goes for the players that have been there a while, and the talent that has recently joined the club.
Some of the most influential players have joined the club while Arteta has been at the helm. Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale and Ben White have all joined over the past few seasons.
The impact of each has been evident: Odegaard is the top goalscorer this season and captains the side, Ramsdale has kept 22 clean sheets since he joined, and White has been part of a very solid defence, playing either in the centre or on the right side.
Over the summer, one of Arsenal’s bigger signings in recent times joined. Indeed, they snared four-time Premier League winner Gabriel Jesus, who has been directly involved in 11 goals in 14 league games so far.
Continuing to improve the squad should allow the Gunners to keep improving and maintain their position at the top end of the table.
Danilo bid incoming
The midfield is an area in which Arsenal have looked keen to improve for some time. Bids for Palmeiras midfielder Danilo and Douglas Luiz both reportedly came in the summer.
There have also been links between the Emirates outfit and both Ruben Neves and Youri Tielemans.
It seems Arsenal are keen to go back in for Danilo. Journalist Nicola has reportedly been in contact with the player’s representatives regarding the Gunners’ interest.
The north London outfit apparently “continue monitoring” his situation and “should place a bid” following the World Cup.
Nicola states that Danilo could be sold for €25million (£21.5million). However, Arsenal are not the only side interested in signing him.
Indeed, it is believed clubs are “expected to make offers”.
With the pull that Arsenal currently have, being top of the Premier League, they may well be out in front, though.
Danilo could follow familiar path
Danilo is clearly highly rated, given that Arsenal are so keen on him. Whether he would break into the first team initially remains to be seen, though.
Indeed, the Gunners signed Gabriel Martinelli from Brazil, and he had to bide his time before turning into a first-team star. They also signed winger Marquinhos over the summer.
The Brazilian has hit form in Premier League 2, so may be given more time to develop there before being elevated to the senior squad.
As such, Danilo might have to do the same if he does join soon.
