Arsenal primed for massive Real Madrid swoop as Fabrizio Romano confirms exit destined to happen

Arsenal will have a great shot at landing Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard this summer after Fabrizio Romano revealed how the former Chelsea man does not have a future in the Spanish capital.

Hazard was one of the Premier League’s best players during his time at Chelsea, winning the PFA Player of the Year award in 2015 and helping the Blues win big trophies such as the Premier League, Europa League and FA Cup.

He left Stamford Bridge in July 2019 by achieving his dream Real Madrid transfer. According to BBC Sport, the La Liga side paid an initial £89m for the attacker, though bonuses may have taken the transfer to around £150m, making him one of the most expensive players of all time.

Despite arriving in Madrid with huge expectations, Hazard has not been able to replicate his Chelsea achievements in the famous white shirt.

His time in Spain has been affected by injuries, inconsistent form and occasional weight problems.

Despite being on Real’s books for almost four years, Hazard has only managed 73 appearances in their first team. And just seven goals have come his way in that time.

This season represents one of his worst campaigns in a Real shirt. He has been limited to seven outings and one goal due to both injury woes and squad competition.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti prefers to play Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Marcos Asensio or Fede Valverde in the wide positions either side of Karim Benzema. This has resulted in Hazard barely getting a look in.

Real Madrid ace could return to Premier League

There have been rumours the Belgian might return to the Premier League, though not with Chelsea. As per French source Media Foot, Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal have looked into signing him.

And the Gunners have now been given a big lift via Romano. In a tweet, the transfer specialist explained how Hazard and his agent will discuss his Real future with club officials in the next few weeks. Hazard has been left frustrated by his lack of game time this season, with his last league appearance coming on September 11.

Romano states the ‘feeling internally’ is that Hazard will leave the Bernabeu this summer. Although, this will only happen if a ‘good bid or opportunity’ arrives.

Arsenal will likely be keeping tabs on the situation. If Hazard agrees with Real chiefs and believes an exit is for the best, then Mikel Arteta’s side could submit an offer.

When leaving Chelsea, Hazard said this was only because of his support for Real. He also reiterated his love for Chelsea.

Those comments mean it would be a huge shock if the 32-year-old went on to sign for Arsenal. It would tarnish his legacy among Chelsea fans somewhat.

However, Hazard might be getting desperate about game time. And this means he will consider other clubs who make approaches for him.

As such, he could just be tempted to make a switch to the Emirates in order to try and get his career back on track.

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s Transfer Gossip includes an Arsenal player rejecting a move to Everton.
