PSG launch damaging Arsenal transfer mission for explosive star an ‘irresistible offer’ can dislodge
PSG will be keeping tabs on Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli at the World Cup and have even sent scouts to monitor him throughout the tournament.
The French club currently sit at the top of Ligue 1 and have some of the best-attacking options in Europe.
With a front three of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar they aren’t exactly struggling for firepower. In the league this season they have already scored 43 goals in just 15 matches.
However, with both Messi and Neymar not getting any younger they are keen on bringing in a younger starlet to lower the average age of their forward line.
PSG are also wary that each of their stars could soon leave the club. Messi continues to be linked with the MLS and has his contract expiring at the end of the season. While Neymar has also been linked with a move away.
The French champions have the financial muscles to go after anyone in world football and it seems as if they have identified Arsenal’s Brazilian starlet.
PSG watching Gabriel Martinelli
According to the Spanish media, PSG will send scouts to the 2022 World Cup to monitor Martinelli. The 21-year-old earnt his place in the Brazil squad after a superb 2022-23 campaign.
The report claims that PSG will ‘will keep an eye’ on Martinelli across the tournament. It is also reported that they have ‘sent scouts’ to watch the youngster in action.
Martinelli has been a key player for Arsenal this season and has started in all 14 Premier League matches so far. In that time he has scored five league goals and also chipped in with two assists.
The Brazilian winger has nailed down a starting spot on the left-hand side and has had great success in that role.
The report claims his market value is £52million although it would take an ‘irresistible offer’ for Arsenal to sell.
Arsenal want him to sign new contract
Martinelli’s current deal at the Emirates runs until 2024, although the club has the option to extend until 2026.
Earlier this month he offered a positive update on his current situation with Arsenal.
“I am very happy at Arsenal. I’ve said it many times,” he said, per the Evening Standard.
“This is my club. I love to be here, I love the city, I love the club.
“I love everything about Arsenal so I want to stay. I just need to get a pen. I want to score, score in the next game and help my team do well.”
Mikel Arteta’s side find themselves in a superb position at the moment as they sit top of the Premier League.
They will be keen to not let these fresh developments rock the boat or distract Martinelli himself.
The Gunners have a fantastic chance of silverware this season and are playing some of the best football in Europe right now.
Arteta has assembled a young group of players who are only going to get better as they develop. There have also been suggestions that Arsenal are prepared to spend further in January to solidify their position.
