Arsenal readying ‘all-in’ offer for midfield superstar that’ll leave Man Utd and Juventus empty-handed

Arsenal are willing to try an ‘all-in’ January offer if it means they can pip Man Utd and Juventus to a dynamic midfielder, per a report.
Two areas are known to be on the Gunners’ radar next month – central midfield and the forward line. Regarding the latter, Arsenal recently confirmed Gabriel Jesus has successfully undergone surgery to correct a knee injury picked up in Qatar.
The issue is believed to be with the medial ligament in Jesus’ right knee. No official timeframe has been put on his recovery, though both the Sun and Fabrizio Romano suggested Jesus could miss up to three months of action.
That may well embolden Arsenal to sign a new forward in January. Ukraine ace Mykhaylo Mudryk is wanted and could be available for far less than Shakhtar Donetsk initially hoped.
Regarding the midfield, Mikel Arteta wants a new option to bolster his engine room. Leicester’s Youri Tielemans and Danilo of Palmeiras are among those regularly linked with a move to north London.
However, according to the Italian press, a different and more creative name is coming into focus. What’s more, he’s also wanted by Juventus and has been linked with Manchester United for many a year.
Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is the man in question, with the 27-year-old Serbian one of Serie A’s bona fide superstars.
The dynamic midfielder is Lazio’s talisman and as such, the Rome club have always quoted astronomical fees in response to exit stories. Figures as high as £85m have been touted, though his contract status should ensure a fee of that size isn’t needed.
Indeed, Milinkovic-Savic’s current deal expires in 2024, meaning his future is coming to a crossroads.
If the Serbian is determined to try his hand in a superior league, Lazio are extremely unlikely to let him run his contract down. A sale in 2023, especially for their most valuable asset, would make sense.
Arsenal going big in January?
A report from Corriere della Sera (via TuttoJuve) states Lazio want to retain the jewel in their crown until at least the end of the season.
However, Arsenal are ‘pressing on the player’ and would be ‘willing to try the “all-in” in January’ to secure a deal.
Doing so would be with a view to pipping Juventus and potentially Man Utd – if their interest is indeed real – to the Serbian’s signature.
In further good news for the Gunners, it’s claimed Milinkovic-Savic might be willing to leave Italy for the Gunners thanks in large part to their surge under Arteta.
Clearly, Arsenal are a club trending in the right direction and look certainties to be in next season’s Champions League. A mid-season arrival may also result in the midfielder picking up a Premier League winner’s medal just six months later.
Milinkovic-Savic is the two-time reigning and defending Lazio Player of the Season and was selected in Serie A’s team of the year last campaign.
He’s scored five and assisted seven for Lazio this season and his physical presence looks tailor-made for the Premier League.
At 27, he is on the older end of players Arsenal have looked to sign under Edu’s leadership. However, no one can argue he wouldn’t make an instant impact for a club looking to win things right here and now.
