Tammy Abraham transfer news: Roma star opens up on Arsenal links after breaking Serie A record
Arsenal-linked striker Tammy Abraham has spoken about his future after setting a new record for the most goals scored by an English player in a Serie A season following his brace in Roma’s 3-0 victory over Torino on Friday night.
The 24-year-old has been outstanding for the Rome outfit since joining up with Jose Mourinho after quitting Chelsea last summer. Indeed, Abraham’s two-goal blast against Torino took him to 17 for the campaign.
That figure surpassed the 16 goals scored by Gerry Hitchens for Inter Milan in the 1961/62 campaign.
The victory for Roma also secured a sixth-placed finish and Europa League football for next season.
Mourinho’s men will now switch their focus to Wednesday’s Europa League Conference final against Feyenoord.
But speaking after the Torino win, Abraham addressed the rumours of a return to England, with Arsenal strongly tipped to make a move.
Abraham has his heart in Rome
He told DAZN: “I love this club. They’ve given me the opportunity to show myself, my heart is here. We’ll see what the future holds, but my heart is here.
“Like I’ve always said, I fell in love with this club from the first day and I will always help the team as much as possible with my goals and assists.
“It’s been a good year for me, I hope to build on this year and hopefully we can finish with a trophy and it can be the perfect year.”
As for Wednesday night’s Conference final, Abraham added: “This is a dream come true for Roma fans, for the club, we’ve made it to the final.
“Now we have to rest and recover well, so hopefully we’ll be celebrating on Wednesday night.”
