Victor Osimhen transfer latest: Napoli striker opens up on his future as Arsenal ponder increased offer

Victor Osimhen has discussed his future and his prospects of securing a move away from Napoli this summer amid claims of a second approach from Arsenal.

The Gunners are desperate to land a new big-name No 9 this summer, having seen two of their big names depart in recent months. Indeed, Alexandre Lacazette’s return to Lyon, just months after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s departure, leaves Arsenal short of options. As it stands, Eddie Nketiah remains their only senior striker. However, he too soon falls out of contract and is also eligible for a free-transfer away this summer.

As a result, the Gunners are tracking a number of potential options to form an exciting new attack. Indeed, Arsenal are hot on the trail of Gabriel Jesus and there seems a growing confidence they can secure a deal for the Brazilian.

However, if Nketiah walks away they could yet sign another. To that end, they also have an interest in two Serie A hot-shots in Osimhen and Gianluca Scamacca.

As such, they are reported to have already made a cheeky opening offer for Osimhen. However, with their lowball approach unsurprisingly falling short, Arsenal are considering an increased offer for his services.

Now the 23-year-old Nigerian has opened up on his future and admits anything can happen in the coming months.

“I know there are many people that would like me in Spain or England,” Osimhen told Calciomercato. “But I don’t think it’s the right time to talk about it now that I’m with the national team. I always go out on the pitch to do my best both with the national team and with my club.

“I don’t know my future, I know anything can happen. But now I just want to go on holiday with my family, clear my head and recharge my batteries. Then we’ll take care of everything else.”

Victor Osimhen looks out of Arsenal price range

With Napoli reportedly demanding an £85m (€100m) fee for Osimhen, Arsenal will have to dig deep to secure his services.

Truth be told, though, a signing that large simply looks beyond them and they may be wise focusing on other targets.

Indeed, their president Aurelio De Laurentiis is not a man who backs down easily. As such, getting him to lower his valuation of Osimhen, especially at this stage of the window, looks hugely unlikely.

Napoli reject Arsenal bid for Victor Osimhen

Arsenal have had their opening bid turned down by Napoli for striker Victor Osimhen.

The Gunners, though, need bodies in now. Having seen Tottenham pinch that last Champions League spot from them, their rivals have also made a rapid start to the summer window.

Arsenal won’t care about that. But they will care about ensuring their forward line boasts the quality to stick away the hatful of chances their vast array of attackers will invariably create.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are reportedly eyeing the signing of Barcelona goalkeeper Neto, with just two hurdles currently preventing them reaching an agreement.
