Wrexham nearing almighty Arsenal coup with astonishing loan deal coming

Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo

League Two side Wrexham are closing in on a stunning loan swoop involving Arsenal, per a report.

The ambitious Welsh club – led by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney – are on the hunt for players who have performed at higher levels.

Wrexham are seeking a new goalkeeper to fill the void left by ex-England international, Ben Foster. Foster recently retired from the professional game at the age of 40.

According to the Athletic, the player they’re turning to is Arsenal stopper, Arthur Okonkwo.

The 21-year-old impressed in loan spells with Crewe Alexandra and then Austrian side Sturm Graz last season.

In fact, Okonkwo featured regularly upon joining Sturm Graz in January, going on to help them lift the Austrian Cup when keeping a clean sheet in the 2-0 final victory over Rapid Vienna.

However, the arrival of David Raya has placed another imposing obstacle in Okonkwo’s path to first-team football at the Emirates.

Per the Athletic, a loan opportunity awaits and the outlet state Okonkwo is ‘set to join Wrexham’ for the full 2023/24 campaign.
