Arsenal could soon pull trigger on big transfer as update puts them in good position

Youri Tielemans, Yannick Carrasco, Belgium, June 2022

Leicester City will reportedly slash their asking price for Youri Tielemans, allowing Arsenal an easier route to the signing of the midfielder.

Arsenal have been linked with Tielemans for some time. Indeed, it seems that the Belgian has been one of their top targets for much of the summer.

It has recently been reported that the Gunners are planning on waiting until next summer to make the move. However, Tielemans himself is reportedly angling for a move, and is ‘fed up’ of waiting for a transfer.

With that being said, another club could swoop in and snatch him. As such, it may be wise for Arsenal to sign Tielemans now, if they are as keen on him as it seems.

They may be given a good opportunity to do so soon, too.

Het Nieuwsblad reports that Leicester are willing to slash their valuation of Tielemans.

They were previously looking for £38million, but will now apparently allow him to leave for as little as £20million.

That is likely due to the fact he is in the final year of his contract. Indeed, the Foxes will want to guarantee a fee for the midfielder, before he can walk away for free next year.

The lower fee is likely of interest to Arsenal. The opportunity to sign Tielemans for so little may be too good for them to pass up on.

They could guarantee that they will land the star, rather than risking waiting until he is a free agent. Indeed, if that were to happen, any club could speak to him, and may be able to convince him into a move.

Arsenal should take Tielemans plunge

If Leicester are willing to lower the price of Tielemans so much, Arsenal should attempt to sign him this summer. They have clearly been fans of his for a good while, and could finally secure his services.

Not often does the opportunity to sign a player of the Belgian’s quality come around.

He seems a perfect addition to the Arsenal squad, too. He would slot in nicely next to Martin Odegaard, and pairing the two would make for one of the best midfield partnerships in the league.

With the Gunners already in a great position – top of the Premier League after three games – they could become even stronger with the signing, and continue to battle at the head of the table.
