Youri Tielemans: Star sold on move as Leicester man makes choice between Arsenal, Newcastle, Man Utd

Belgium's Youri Tielemans celebrates after scoring during the UEFA Nations League league A football match between Wales and Belgium in Cardiff

Youri Tielemans has reportedly decided which club he wants to join this summer as his move away from Leicester edges that bit closer.

The Belgian midfielder has established himself as one of the elite midfielders outside the Premier League’s top six. Indeed, eyebrows were initially raised when the Foxes managed to snare Tielemans from Monaco on an initial loan deal in January 2019. That became a permanent move that summer, despite speculation at the time that Manchester United were looking to gazump them.

United have since kept a watching brief on the star, who will go down in Leicester folklore thanks to his 2021 FA Cup final winner. But with a year left on his deal, the Foxes are powerless to keep the star. Indeed, with the player able to negotiate a moves overseas from January, Brendan Rodgers’ side are, understandably, eager to sell now.

Indeed, United are looking to revamp their midfield options and Tielemans is a player they are looking seriously at. However, their priority remains Frenkie de Jong, while a deal for Christian Eriksen is seemingly also close.

Arsenal too are also strongly linked with the player. They have held talks with his representatives for several months. And over the weekend the Gunners reportedly reached an agreement with the player.

However, Tielemans is seemingly biding his time before committing to that move. Furthermore, late interest from Newcastle – who have also made an initial enquiry – gave the 25-year-old more to consider.

Youri Tielemans wants Arsenal transfer

As per CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs speaking to Curtis Shaw TV, the player has now decided his next move. And the reporter claims a move to Arsenal is seen as the perfect next step for his career.

Despite their lack of Champions League football, Tielemans is ready to give the green light on a move to Emirates. And as long as the Gunners can strike an agreement with Leicester, that’s the move he’s set his heart on making.

Jacobs insists there is also no truth in claims that Tottenham may make a late bid to hijack the transfer.

The Foxes are reportedly seeking £32m for the 52-times capped Belgium international.

Jacobs said: “Arsenal have put in a heck of a lot of work into Tielemans. They’ve agreed personal terms, and their talks with Tielemans date back for the best part of a year.

“But for whatever reason, Arsenal have decided not to swoop just yet and actually table a bid with Leicester City. And if they do so, and agree a fee at the lowest end £25million, at the highest end £32million, they will get Youri Tielemans.”

Star will be an astute signing for Arsenal

With Arsenal already active in the transfer market this summer, they, understandably, next want to bring in a new midfielder. The Gunners struggled at times without the services of Thomas Partey and will be keen to add more depth to their squad this season.

Tielemans is one of the best passers of the ball in the Premier League. His sublime skill allows him to navigate his way out the tighest situation. Furthermore, he also knows his way to goal. Indeed, the classy operator managed seven goals and five assists in 2021/22.

And he’s the experienced midfield head who can help Arsenal’s young side further progress.

Youri Tielemans will leave Leicester this summer likely for Arsenal

To that end, we’re surprised Tielemans has not been snapped up already.

Tielemans initially wanted to sign for a team who could offer him Champions League football. While the Europa League is a step down, he will hope performances in the Premier League can help get Arsenal there this time next year.

Meanwhile, an attractive Arsenal plan has seemingly seen the Lisandro Martinez transfer race also swing in their favour.
