don’t know how genuine or credible the source is who claims we have just over 54m to
spend this summer.if that is true then there’s no doubt we must ship out even more
players.if we do buy xhaka for 30m,then that would leave just 24m to buy a top quality
striker and defender.i think wenger’s first priority are a centre half and a striker.
the biggest frustration of all is us fans just have to look at every media/press
outlet to see what we can or can’t do at times.it’s so frustrating when some reports
say we can spend big while other’s say different.the club and it’s fans are miles
apart in how they keep us distant from them.i’m not looking for the board to say we
have 100m to spend, for arguments sake, because that tells every possible selling club
to make their players more valuable than they might really be.it would be great to
hear that club has ambition to compete for the prem lge and champs lge.it’s awful
that we have to second guess everything at the club.does the club really care about
    it’s fans enough???

If we did have 54.1 plus player sales that would give us at least £80m to spend (Walcott and Campbell alone could bring in £25m). If we spent it that would be more than a lot of seasons! So it could be a case of saying phew £55m million already in the pot lovely-jubbly! Like you say telling the world we’ve got loads of money wouldn’t help bring players in anyway and nobody other than Wenger and the board know how much there is to spend.

Personally id really like young players like Toral getting a chance. I think xhata for £30m plus a world class striker would be ok (not sure who though). Of course if there is a better centre half than Mert then we should bring him in but who? Wenger made comments this season that his scouts have been unable to find CB – try harder I say – however City bought Managala for 42m last season and I’d rather have Chambers line up than him.

This story doesn’t make sense. There will be more money from the new tv deals and we already has cash reserves. If we spent anywhere close to 60m it would be an improvement on the past but not enough. We need world class centre half and striker as we did last season but arrogant wenger failed us. The teams that were behind us have caught up. Man city and chelsea will be stronger, spurs will as well and then there’s Man U and Liverpool.

A complete piece of fiction Steve and one that must have been endorsed by Slaphead and other Kroenke associates, possibly Wenger too. It’s from a broker called Collins Sarri Statham Investments, author Ravi Lockyer, who states that he is “no football fan” and doubtless knows nothing about football. He states that we have over £159m in the bank now and that “no more than about £54m” might be made available. Where has this figure been plucked from and why are there no reasons given for this sum? Who has he spoken to? Where are the precedents for such percentages being made available? There are no sources attributed to this rubbish and it’s pure conjecture that renders it worthless. I could come on here and announce that Wenger currently has £159m to spend- it would have as much credibility!

My biggest apprehension for next season is that the fight for top 4 will be more competitive with all the big teams reinforcing. Wenger is too indecisive now to make his moves. It looks like he has lost confidence in his ability to spot talent. You have to wonder what our scouts get paid for… We need nothing less than a starting CB, a CDM, and a world class striker. It is ok to sell to achieve this; the Ox, Walcott, Giroud, Ramsey etc… are all dispensable.

steve, it’s a load of rubbish by a 2nd rate investment firm probably engaged by Wenger and his cronies to spin their web of lies, a damage limitation exercise if you like. Every PL club will be investing heavily this summer in view of the increased TV money except us and Wenger knows fans will not be happy. Hence this pre-emptive move for damage control. Funny thing is, it went on to sing the praises of Wenger. It’s quite hilarious really.

maxim04, as you rightly state Wenger is a master when it comes to spin and getting his mates to plant stories into the media stream. Whenever his contract was about to be renewed these ludicrous stories linking him with Real Madrid kept cropping up. Pure Wenger fiction, he’s been doing the same thing for years. Lets be honest the bloke doesn’t want to spend so he will always make out there isn’t any money and then he will waste millions on average/poor players. He’s been doing it for the last 12 years just so he can prove some point only he understands. Plus after Leicester’s success this season he has been well and truly blown out of the water. As for transfer budgets don’t forget it may well be swelled if Sanchez and Ozil leave. There’s another £80million for you. My biggest worry is do we really want Wenger to be the one spending it.

Stinks of complete bs to me buddy. We’ve already had the board come out and say we have circa 150 mil to spend so where 54.1 comes from is a complete mystery. My only guess is that it’s our boards attempt to push prices down on possible targets.

Just read a report from the AST, largely ridiculing the CSS report and giving a breakdown of the actual money available, which is a lot closer to £100m. This doesn’t take into account the wages that will be freed up by Rosicky, Arteta and Flamini leaving and, of course, the money that could be raised from the sales of one or two of our underperforming stars.

On that note, I’m thinking that Wenger is bound to get rid of at least one midfielder and I’m worried it’ll be Coq.

There’d be a riot if he sold Caz, he won’t sell Elneny after just 6 months and, of course, Jack is back and Wenger will never account for the likelihood of him getting injured again.

Coq, meanwhile, has done little wrong apart from making Wenger look stupid for not getting in a solid DM earlier – so Coquelin it is then.
