Aston Villa tipped to smash two records for Liverpool, Arsenal-linked winger, as Fabrizio Romano reveals Unai Emery impact

Aston Villa are being linked with a record-breaking deal to sign a Liverpool and Arsenal target Unai Emery knows well, though Fabrizio Romano has revealed why caution is the word of the day.
The former Gunners boss succeeded Steven Gerrard at Villa Park on Monday. Emery, 50, takes charge of a side sat 15th in the Premier League table, though hopes are high he can lead the ambitious club comfortably into the top half.
As with all new managerial appointments, the attention quickly centres on who he might recruit, and often times the new boss looks to his former club.
Indeed, Erik ten Hag is a recent example of that trend. The Man Utd boss launched a double raid on former club Ajax last summer when buying Lisandro Martinez and Antony.
According to the Spanish press, Emery could do something similar with Villa and Villarreal involving Yeremi Pino.
The lively winger, 21, became a mainstay for Emery during his time at El Madrigal.
Yeremi operates primarily on the right side, though can also deputise on the left. The Spain international notched seven goals across all competitions in each of the last two campaigns.
His rapid rise has also seen him draw links with Arsenal and Liverpool. However, the latest report (as cited by CaughtOffside), claims Yeremi could be snapped up by Emery as early as January.
Yeremi Pino transfer would smash two records
To do so would reportedly require a hefty €70m (approx. £60.7m) outlay. A transfer in that range would both be Villarreal’s highest ever sale and Villa’s biggest ever buy.
Emery got the best out of Yeremi at Villarreal and a strong showing for Spain in Qatar could embolden Villa to make their move.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, caution is the word of the day.
The trusted transfer guru is aware of the speculation linking Villarreal players, such as Yeremi, to Aston Villa.
Aston Villa transfer talk premature?
However, Romano stressed it’s “too early” for Villa to have settled on any concrete targets as yet.
Furthermore, he claimed we might not learn who Villa truly plan to pursue until the January window officially opens.
“With a new manager coming in, we’re already seeing speculation about Aston Villa’s transfer targets for January, with some talk of Unai Emery raiding his old club Villarreal for Yeremi Pino,” Romano said.
“Honestly, it’s really too early to know the targets. The agreement for Emery was done just 48 hours ago and as always, there are rumours on players who have been working with that manager.
“It’s typical but we will know more in January!”
