Emery connection gives Aston Villa simple route to winger snare as £44million transfer is mooted

Samuel Chukwueze, Villarreal, October 2022

Unai Emery’s connection with Villarreal star Samuel Chukwueze could lead to a simple transfer for his new side Aston Villa.

Emery’s impact on Villa has been clear from the off. Indeed, his first game saw his free-flowing side take down Manchester United in a 3-1 win.

That was a big contrast to their previous game, a 4-1 loss to Newcastle United.

A few Villa stars stood out in the victory over fifth-placed Man Utd. Goalscorers Leon Bailey, Jacob Ramsey and Lucas Digne obviously put in decent performances to grab their goals

Each of Villa’s players will want to impress the new boss so they remain in the side.

While they may be able to do that, that will not stop Emery from wanting to add to the quality. Indeed, the manager will want to put his own touches on the side.

That will mean that new transfers are likely in the upcoming window.

Links to a number of potential snares have already started, since Emery left Villarreal to take the job.

Emery connection could mean for Chukwueze transfer

It has been no surprise that there have been links to some of Emery’s former Villarreal stars. Indeed, the Yellow Submarine reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, as well as finishing seventh in La Liga.

It would be reasonable for Emery to want to reunite with some players that made that possible. The first man to be linked with a switch from Villarreal to Villa Park was Nicolas Jackson.

Defender Pau Torres has also been the subject of links regarding a move to Villa.

Now, there is a third man in that group. One Spanish outlet believes that Emery has ‘reached out’ to winger Chukwueze regarding a move.

It is not unlikely that he would want to reunite with Emery, having been successful under him.

Snare would not come cheap

Chukuweze performed well while Emery was in charge at Villarreal. The winger contributed to 30 goals in all competitions since Emery took charge in 2020.

That form has meant he will not be a cheap man to sign, though. The report detailing Emery’s potential interest states he would cost around €50million (approx £43.6million).

A fee in that region should not be too much of an issue for Villa. Indeed, they will likely back Emery in the transfers he wants to make.

That will probably not be the only signing he makes, whether it be in January or beyond.

There could be a big spend as he looks to add some more quality to the ranks.
