Aston Villa test the waters with ‘very interesting’ offer for Arsenal, Tottenham target

Aston Villa are reported to have made a ‘very interesting’ offer regarding Frank Kessie from AC Milan, who is a target of Arsenal, Tottenham and Barcelona.

Kessie has been the subject to speculation on a move for some time. Indeed, Arsenal have established themselves as one potential Premier League suitor, while Tottenham are also entrenched in the mix.

However, the offer reportedly presented to the Ivorian from the Gunners ‘did not convince’ him.

With Kessie’s contract running out at the end of the season, many clubs may try their hand with an offer. That is the case with Aston Villa, who have reportedly made an effort to land the midfielder, per Calciomercato.

Villa’s desire to land a competent holding midfield player was clear during the January window. Indeed, they were in the hunt for Rodrigo Bentancur, before being pipped to the post by Tottenham.

Kessie is capable of operating both in a deep-lying midfield role, and as a box-to-box midfielder.

The offer Villa have made to Kessie is reported to be ‘very interesting’.

The report also states that the Ivorian is likely to take a ‘few more days to decide’ following the fresh offer.

Also in the mix for Kessie are Barcelona. The snare for a player of his quality on a free transfer would be a big one.

The Spanish giants are reported to be ‘on pole’ to land him, though the Villa offer may change that.

Kessie and Coutinho potential Villa moves

Philippe Coutinho, Aston Villa, February 2022.

Philippe Coutinho is another big name that could make the permanent move to Aston Villa in the summer. The Brazilian appears to be relishing his time in Birmingham.

“I am very happy,” he said.

“It was my wish to return to play in England and play in the Premier League again. I’m glad I’m having this opportunity and I’m very happy.”

“I work hard every day to play well and contribute with good results for the club I play for. And of course, I really wanted to return to the Premier League, I am at a brilliant club that makes me very happy.”

Player and club alike will be more than happy with the performances he has put in for the side.
