Dean Smith tipped for Aston Villa reunion as Norwich take step towards striker deal

Norwich City boss Dean Smith is being tipped for a reunion with Aston Villa forward Keinan Davis following a reported scouting expedition.
The Canaries manager is clearly a keen admirer of Davis. Indeed, he gave him his Premier League debut, as well as his only top-flight minutes this season while still in charge of Villa.
The striker has played in 34 league games since Villa’s return to the top flight, mostly from the bench.
Since Steven Gerrard took over from Smith, Davis is yet to play. As such, he was shipped out to the Championship in January, and is currently plying his trade with Nottingham Forest.
However, another move could be on the cards for Davis. A report from Birmingham Mail states that Smith sent a scout to watch him play for Forest recently.
Davis has found his feet in the Championship, scoring twice and assisting once in eight games.
Continuing in the Championship might not be the worst thing for the forward. He would be given the opportunity to find form at an easier level and needs regular minutes to aid his development.

However, there is a distinct possibility that Norwich will be playing in the second tier next season. They currently sit bottom of the Premier League, five points from safety.
Should that happen, the potential signing of Davis could benefit both club and player. He would no doubt be given regular minutes, as well as the chance to fire the Canaries back to the Premier League under a manager that has shown faith in him previously.
Keinan Davis and Fernandez could be among Villa moves
In other news, Aston Villa are reportedly tracking Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
The midfielder occupies the holding-midfield role, a position Villa were keen on improving during the January window.
They will, however, encounter competition from a host of Premier League sides, should they want to land Fernandez.
Each of Tottenham, Arsenal and West Ham are also reportedly interested.
