Aston Villa perfectly suit Luis Suarez aims as Steven Gerrard urges club to go back in for striker

A report has revealed the ambitions of Luis Suarez for next season and Aston Villa appears to be a perfect destination for the centre-forward.
Suarez hit 21 goals in 38 matches last season, helping Atletico Madrid to win their first La Liga title in seven years. Suarez scored a crucial winner on the final day as Diego Simeone’s men pipped rivals Real Madrid to the Spanish league crown.
It was a particularly sweet moment for Suarez after Barcelona had let him go the previous summer.
The Uruguay international has gone on to score 13 times in 45 appearances this campaign. But it has been a slightly disappointing season for Atletico.
They finished third in the league, behind Barcelona and Real, and were unable to win any trophies in Europe or domestically.
35-year-old Suarez will leave the Wanda Metropolitano this summer as his contract expires on June 30.
As such, he can move to another club on a free transfer. His goalscoring pedigree and vast experience make him an attractive capture for any interested sides.
Suarez has previously been linked with Aston Villa to reunite with former Liverpool team-mate Gerrard.
Luis Suarez could follow Coutinho’s lead
Of course, Philippe Coutinho is now playing for Villa and Gerrard is doing his upmost to get the best out of the playmaker.
According to The Telegraph, Gerrard is planning another reunion this summer, this time with Suarez.
He has told Villa officials to go back in for the four-time La Liga champion and one-time Champions League winner.
The Villans are ‘exploring the possibility’ of landing Suarez later this year. Presumably this means initial talks with Suarez and his agent will open in the next few weeks.
The report reveals what Suarez is hoping to get out of the move. He apparently wants to play at the top level for one more campaign to help him star at the Qatar World Cup.
Villa can offer him this through a return to the Premier League, which would put him in a great position to make the Uruguay squad.
The West Midlands outfit will want to perform checks to make sure Suarez still has the fitness to cope with the Prem. But this is what the medical tests are for.
Plus, Suarez is still a proven goalscorer following two years at Atletico. That makes him highly likely to do the same at Villa Park.
Initial reports linking Villa with Suarez were ambitious. However, the potential move is now gathering pace.
Sources suggest Gerrard wants to replace Danny Ings with an ‘A-list’ striker to improve his attacking options. Suarez certainly fits into this bracket, even if he is past his prime.
Meanwhile, Villa’s summer transfer window is officially underway as they are landing a Brazilian star from Sevilla.
