Aston Villa ace ‘highly appreciated’ by Spanish giant as summer transfer comes into frame

Matty Cash of Aston Villa

Aston Villa star Matty Cash is ‘highly appreciated’ by a major Spanish club and could be the subject of a bid this summer, according to one source.

Cash is a product of the Nottingham Forest academy. He graduated to their senior squad in July 2016 and went on to make 141 appearances for the Reds, scoring 13 times. The right-back’s impressive form in the Championship saw him gain interest from Aston Villa and Sheffield United.

The Villans ultimately won the race for his services by agreeing a £14million deal with Forest in September 2020.

The star, who now represents Poland on the international stage, featured in 28 Premier League games during his debut campaign for Villa.

He remains an integral part of the team under Steven Gerrard and looks set to continue gaining admirers.

But Cash’s solid displays could see him become the subject of a significant bid once the transfer window reopens.

Atletico Madrid were monitoring his situation throughout January and began direct contact with Villa, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Club ‘seriously interested’ in Matty Cash

He claims Diego Simeone’s team are ‘seriously interested’ in acquiring Cash ahead of the 2022-23 season.

He is on Atleti’s transfer wish list as they look to replace Kieran Trippier, following the Englishman’s January switch to Newcastle United.

The reigning La Liga champions ‘highly appreciate’ Cash’s ability, which could force Villa into a transfer decision soon.

Klopp ready to introduce new front three

Klopp ready to introduce new front three

Liverpool has been looking for their current three's successor's, and it seems Klopp might be ready to introduce them next season.

Gerrard will not want to lose the Slough-born full-back as the manager is aiming to build a solid squad at Villa Park.

But Atleti have available funds and could tempt the West Midlands side into a deal with a serious offer.

They are the only team to hold an interest as things stand.

Aston Villa signing ‘super happy’

Meanwhile, Philippe Coutinho has never been as happy as he is under Gerrard at Aston Villa, according to Romano.

The midlands outfit pulled off a real coup when landing the Barcelona man on loan last month. Villa wasted no time in trying to get the midfielder to Villa Park in January once Gerrard had given the deal the green light.

Coutinho, who joined Barcelona in a £142m move from Liverpool in January 2018, has been a shining light so far under Gerrard.

He made a dream debut by scoring the equaliser against Manchester United as a second-half substitute last month. A cool, close-range finish handed Villa a point.

“He’s started very well,” Romano told Gazzetta Dello FIVE. “I’m told also from some people into the club that in training, he seems really happy, super happy with Steven Gerrard, super happy with the atmosphere.

“Who’s close to Coutinho? Agents. They say they never saw Philippe happy and ready to fight as they see him right now.

“So, a few weeks ago, he was suffering at Barcelona because he was not even considered as a key player.

“Now he’s back as a star, he was needing some fresh air, he was needing maybe Premier League football.”
