Aston Villa plot ambitious €55m double raid on Italian giants, with Emery tipped to foil Man Utd plan

Marcelo Brozovic of FC Internazionale celebrates with Denzel Dumfries of FC Internazionale

Aston Villa are considering making a ‘double offer’ for Inter Milan pair Denzel Dumfries and Marcelo Brozovic this summer, according to reports.

Unai Emery is expected to be given plenty of money to spend in the upcoming transfer window, after overseeing a remarkable turnaround at Villa Park this season.

Indeed, when the Spanish manager took over, Aston Villa were relegation contenders. Now, they sit in eighth place in the Premier League table and still have an outside chance of qualifying for Europe.

As a result, the club’s hierarchy are expected to back Emery in the transfer market. He will also have the help of Barcelona Director of Football Mateu Alemany, who is expected to take up a role with the Villains this summer.

Aston Villa have been linked with several exciting players recently. For instance, the Midlands club hold a ‘concrete interest’ in former Tottenham player Giovani Lo Celso.

There are plenty of other names on Emery’s transfer shortlist, too, as he looks to cement the club’s place at the top of the Premier League.

With that in mind, it could be a very exciting summer for Villa fans.

Aston Villa target Inter duo

Now, according to InterLive, Aston Villa are considering a ‘double offer of €55m (approx. £47.8m)’ for Inter pair Denzel Dumfries and Marcelo Brozovic.

Both players have been linked with exits for months. Manchester United, for example, have had Dumfries on their radar for some time.

The right-back signed for Inter from PSV Eindhoven in August 2021. Since, he has quickly become a mainstay in the team, making 90 appearances overall.

Emery has been forced to use 37-year-old Ashley Young as a right-back in recent games, so he clearly needs cover in that position. With that in mind, brining in Dumfries would be a smart bit of business.

As for Brozovic, he has been a been a important player for Inter in over the years. Since signing for Inter in 2016, he has made 324 appearances, scoring 30 goals and making 41 assists.

But, there is currently growing speculation surrounding Brozovic’s future. A versatile player, the 30-year-old can play as a defensive, central or attacking midfielder, so could provide cover in several areas for Emery next season.

InterLive do not make it clear whether the €55m figure is Aston Villa’s offer, or an Inter Milan demand. But, both players are believed to be available on the transfer market.

Therefore, if the Villains put their money where their mouth is, they have a great chance of signing both players.
