Sources: Sheffield United beat Leeds to Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer as Farke plots £8m Swansea raid

Sheffield United linked Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer
TEAMtalk understands that Sheffield United have a deal in place to sign Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer, who has been linked with a move to Leeds United.
The 21-year-old made a brief substitute appearance in the Villains’ 4-0 victory over Everton on Saturday but it seems he isn’t in Unai Emery’s plans for the future.
Archer enjoyed an excellent loan spell with Middlesborough last season. He made 21 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and making six assists.
In 2021/22, the England under-21s international was on loan with Preston North End. There, he netted seven times in 20 league appearances.
Archer clearly knows where the goal is, so could prove to be an excellent signing for Sheffield United. The Blades have now reached an agreement to sign the striker for £18m, TEAMtalk understands.
Aston Villa will have a buyback clause inserted into Archer’s contract, just as they have done with Aaron Ramsey, who has joined Burnley for £14m.
Emery will hope to put these funds to good use as he looks to bring in several targets before the transfer window closes.
Leeds ‘very keen’ on Piroe after Archer blow
According to reputed journalist Phil Hay, Leeds are now prioritising a move for Swansea City striker Joel Piroe after missing out on Archer.
On Twitter, Hay wrote: “Leeds United now actively in the mix for Joel Piroe’s signature. Likely to leave Swansea before the deadline.
“Leeds talking about a fee of £8m to £10m and very keen to land a number nine. But loads of interest in Piroe.”
Piroe signed for Swansea in 2021 and he has become one of their most important players. He scored 19 goals in 43 Championship appearances last season. He also netted 22 in the previous campaign.
With that in mind, the 24-year-old could be exactly the kind of player Leeds need to help fire them back into the Premier League.
As mentioned by Hay, though, plenty of clubs hold an interest in Piroe. Everton have previously been linked with the Dutchman, for example, and they are still in the market for a new striker.
Che Adams is the Toffees’ priority at the moment, but if they miss out on the Southampton star they may well come back in for Piroe.
Therefore, Leeds will no doubt try and get a deal done for the Swansea striker as soon as possible.
