Aston Villa transfer news: Good news for Unai Emery as Villa tipped to splash the cash in January

Aston Villa are being tipped to heavily back Unai Emery in the January transfer window, if the club are still in relegation trouble.
Villa turned to Emery to replace Steven Gerrard as their new boss last week. However, the Spaniard was unable to take charge of the 4-0 loss at Newcastle on Saturday due to work permit rules.
The heavy defeat leaves Villa just a point outside the drop zone. And former Hibernian striker Tam McManus has discussed what business they might do in the new year.
McManus is sure that the club will act with a significant spend, if required.
Speaking to Football Insider, McManus said: “We know Villa have the money, they have been spending it for years now.
“So I don’t think it will change in January. Especially if they are still near the bottom three when it comes around.”
Emery will want his own players on board
While Gerrard was allowed to splash the cash by the Villa board, McManus expects Emery to get the chance to bring in his own targets.
He added: “Gerrard brought his own players in during the summer but none of them have really had an impact. So the new manager will want to get his own guys in, that’s natural when any new manager comes in.
“But I think it’s as important to get the players who aren’t good enough out of the club. So I think there will be a lot of comings and goings in January.
“It’s exciting for the fans. But they are probably used to it after the hundreds of millions they have spent in the last few years. They’ll continue to do it.”
While Emery was missing for the game at St James’ Park, he is expected to be in the dugout for Villa‘s clash with Manchester United on November 6.
