Bournemouth have completed the signing of Argentina international defender Marcos Senesi on a four-year contract.

Senesi has signed for the Cherries from Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord, with whom he reached the Europa Conference League final last season. The cost of the transfer – Bournemouth’s fifth signing of the summer – has not been disclosed.

Senesi played for Feyenoord between 2019 and 2022 after leaving San Lorenzo in his native country. Earlier this year, he earned his senior debut for Argentina.

Now, the 25-year-old is ready for the next step in his career, which is taking him to the Premier League.

He told Bournemouth’s in-house media: “I’m really happy to be here. It’s a dream come true to play in the Premier League and this club wants me.

“I’m really happy to be here today.”

Of playing in the Premier League in particular, he added: “It’s a dream. Since I was young I want to play in one of the best leagues and this one is one of the best ones and I like to be here.”

A left-footed centre-back who is nicknamed the ‘Gladiator’, Senesi will be competing for a place in the Bournemouth lineup with the likes of Lloyd Kelly and Chris Mepham.

Explaining what type of player he is, Senesi said: “I’m the kind of player who really likes to have the ball, to play good football.

“Also, hard worker – I really like to help the team and give everything for the team.”

Chief executive welcomes Marcos Senesi to Bournemouth

Bournemouth’s chief executive, Neill Blake, added: “This is a huge signing for us and Marcos brings significant pedigree to our squad.

“There was, inevitably, a lot of interest in him so for him to choose to come here is a clear sign of our appeal as a football club.

“Bringing in a current Argentina international with experience in European competitions is another indication of the club’s ambition and we are all looking forward to seeing Marcos in an AFC Bournemouth shirt.”

Bournemouth’s next game will be against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City on August 13.
