Thomas Frank goes huge in sensational Brentford rant – ‘we smashed Man Utd’

Brentford manager Thomas Frank

Thomas Frank gave an impassioned appraisal of his Brentford side after claiming the Bees “destroyed”, “smashed”, and “killed” Man Utd, despite losing 3-1.

Brentford suffered their fifth defeat in six league matches when falling at home to Manchester United 3-1. The Bees were the dominant force in a topsy-turvy first half, yet couldn’t capitalise with David de Gea in fine form once again.

United upped their game after the break and raced into a two-goal lead through fine goals from Anthony Elanga and Mason Greenwood.

Substitute Marcus Rashford added a third before Ivan Toney notched a consolation goal late on.

Speaking to BT Sport after the match, a defiant Thomas Frank said: “Unbelievably proud of my team.

“We are the smallest club in the Premier League, Manchester United the biggest.

“We destroyed them in the first half, they didn’t have a sniff, three huge chances and there could only have been one winner of this game. They are unbelievably lucky.

“I know all the stuff about taking chances. They changed the system against little Brentford.

“One of those nights, fair play to David de Gea. If we get those chances again one will go in the back of the net.

“Our intensity killed them, we showed that in the first half, we played the Brentford way.

“Of the three goals, the second is most disappointing and difficult to come back from.

“The way we smashed them in the first half was fantastic, so proud of my team.”
