Brentford transfer news: Bees to snub Ellery Balcombe interest as Thomas Frank has plan for young stopper
Brentford are set to shun interest from a host of clubs to keep Ellery Balcombe at the club and let him push David Raya for the number one jersey, TEAMtalk understands.
The 22-year-old has come through the ranks Brentford, but is yet to play for the Bees. However, he has built up extensive experience on-loan and earned excellent reviews in the process.
Balcombe has enjoyed spells at Danish side Viborg, Doncaster, Burton and most recently Bromley – who he played a starring role for in the weekend FA Trophy win over Wrexham at Wembley.
A host of teams have already spoken to Brentford about the chance of taking Balcombe on-loan. However, Thomas Frank is keen to keep the player.
Brentford have confirmed that on-loan goalkeepers Alvaro Fernandez and Jonas Lossl have both returned to their respective clubs.
That leaves Balcombe as the current number two, unless Frank moves for a more experienced option.
Raya is the current undisputed No.1 and is only four years older than Balcombe, which means the young stopper faces a tough task trying to grab that jersey.
