Exclusive: Arsenal and Man City interest to prompt ‘huge’ deal with explosive Brighton star to break record

TEAMtalk has been told a deal involving Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma could soon set a new record amid interest from Arsenal, Man City and two bona fide Euro giants.
The 25-year-old has been simply sensational this season. Mitoma arrived at the AMEX in the summer of 2021, though a loan spell to Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise ensured the Premier League was made to wait for his debut.
However, good things come to those who wait and upon breaking into the starting eleven on the regular in the Autumn, Mitoma has gone on a tear.
Indeed, the Japan international has bagged 14 goal contributions since late-October.
Among those he’s put to the sword include Liverpool who Mitoma knocked out of the FA Cup with an injury time winner in the fourth round. Mitoma has also scored against Arsenal in both the League Cup and Premier League.
Predictably, his exploits with the Seagulls have not gone unnoticed.
Indeed, 90min previously reported Mitoma was on Arsenal’s radar in January and only the fact he was seemingly unattainable saw the Gunners move for Leandro Trossard instead once Chelsea poached Mykhialo Mudryk.
Now, speaking exclusively to TEAMtalk, transfer insider Graeme Bailey has named three more huge clubs who are sizing up Mitoma.
However, per Bailey, every Mitoma suitor should brace themselves for disappointment with Brighton ready to reward their star wideman with a lucrative new contract.
In fact, Bailey claimed Mitoma could be about to set a new record and become Brighton’s highest paid player ever.
“Kaoru Mitoma has been one of the Premier League’s top performers this season, “said Bailey. “He is very much the breakout star in England.
“It is not surprising that clubs from across Europe are looking at him and that is true.
“If he was on the market, Mitoma would have his pick of clubs. Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City… they have all taken an interest in his progress.
“However, just one season in and Brighton are not going to be selling, but they will be rewarding him with a huge new deal. Mitoma could very well become the highest paid player at the club and why not? He is fully deserving of it.
“Mitoma’s current deal runs to 2025, but Brighton will reward him.”
Brighton have been a cut above when it comes to transfer dealings in recent times.
In Mitoma’s case at least, it appears they’ll be able to reap their rewards with the Japanese ace for a little while longer yet.
