TEAMtalk understands that Brighton have fended off interest to keep hold of England youth forward Joshua Duffus.

The London-born teenager joined Brighton from Crystal Palace as a trainee in summer 2021 and has since emerged as one of their top prospects.

We understand Tottenham, Aston Villa and Fulham all showed an interest in landing Duffus after his excellent form for Brighton’s U18s.

However, TEAMtalk can reveal that Brighton have moved to agree terms on his first professional deal at the club. That is set to be confirmed in the coming week, with the news warmly welcomed by all at the AMEX.

Duffus, who can play as an attacking midfielder or off either wing, has also made the breakthrough into their Premier League 2 side.

And with his future now secured on the south coast, the two-times capped England U17 international can now expect more chances to come his way.
